I wish I could give this place 3 1/2 stars, because it was an alright enough place to stay, the location was nice, they offered breakfast vouchers to an incredible breakfast location across the street named Oscars; several of the other local hotels have their own, in-house, restaurants so this place has partnered with Oscars to offer guests an included breakfast option which was a nice one. A few issues we had were: the bars of soap were probably the worst I've seen anywhere in the US-they were about the dimensions of a silver dollar, they didn't suds up hardly at all and they were incredibly brittle. I think the cleaning crew is pretty short-staffed as we were slightly encouraged not to take daily service for the rooms; one day when our trash cans were becoming full, I asked for service and it was suggested that we simply set our waste baskets outside and that the staff would change them-they sat in the hallway from mid-morning until mid-afternoon(about 6 hours and no one had changed them so I simply emptied them in the trash bag that the cleaning crew had lying in the hallway. For some reason the bathrooms were always cold and especially while showering; so even though the water was warm, we were always cold in the shower- never did quite figure that out, but we all noticed it. The last issue I'll mention is that for some reason the establishment makes you wait until 3 pm in order to pick up the breakfast voucher for the following day; this isn't very convenient since many times you'll be out hiking all day, then grabbing dinner and by the time you return to the hotel, the lobby has closed..so oftentimes we'd have to interrupt our day and go back to the hotel simply to grab the voucher for the following day. One late morning while returning from breakfast, I stopped to grab the vouchers and the gentleman mentioned that we couldn't pick them up until 3 pm, I enquired as to why 3 pm was the time of availability; and not one of the two gentlemen working the lobby were able to answer why the 3 pm distribution time existed which I thought was very strange-do employees not understand the rationale for why their companies' protocols exist? At the time, the lobby was empty, other than us, so helping with the vouchers at that moment would have been convenient for both of us. As it stood, it was an annoyance that we weren't able to knock off picking up the vouchers so we could go on with our day, but also because the employees didn't understand their company's policy enough to tell us why..and I can assure you that no customer in history has ever been satisfied with the answer, "because that's our policy." Along that line, there are always times when taking care of the needs and convenience of your guests should be made available to the staff. Just today, a restaurant employee in another city allowed me into their working area so I could see their wall menu better; many times with my own company, I'll circumvent the norm in order to better serve the needs of my clients. So overall not bad-I'd recommend upgrading the soap and for management to train all of the staff members about how to be excellent customer service reps-there's no reason that budget hotels couldn't out-perform bigger establishments when it comes to personal interactions and accommodating...
Read moreJust OK - a few really strong Pros, offset by several Cons
Cons Rooms have very little soundproofing, I'm generally a heavy sleeper but I was woken up often by guests talking in the hallway or the groundskeepers outside. Fair amount of noise every time the guests above me used their bathroom. Other guests have also mentioned the noise of the heater unit so take heed. It truly is a loud roar which kicked on and off throughout the night preventing sound sleep Beds sufficient, but I wouldnt classify them as overly comfortable, maybe older mattresses? -I found several hairs in my bathroom/shower/bed that did not belong to me, as well as one on one of the pillows! I was glad I brought my own pillow and did not use the pillows provided. -It was very important to me that the hotel I booked had a hot tub. I called 2 days before the reservation just to ensure that the hot tub was working and was told that yes the hot tub was open year round. When I got there, the hot tub was under maintenance and had been so for several days. I really wish the person i had spoke to set better expectations about this as i could have changed my reservation but it stinks when an advertised amenity is not available. Front desk reception was somewhat unwelcoming/cold. I did speak to someone once on the morning shift and she was really nice, but there were three people there regularly in the afternoons who did not seem happy to be working there.
Pros Phenomenal Breakfast, one of the best free breakfast i have ever had at any hotel! The servers there were incredible, flexible on taking orders, and friendly. I did not intend to eat my free breakfast every day in order to explore other Springdale options but couldn't pass this breakfast up. (chicken fried chicken is the way to go!) -Location/views were top notch, I couldn't believe how gorgeous the view was from my room, felt like I was waking up in another world each day. Based on what I saw, EVERY room had a good view, which is really impressive. Super close to Zion park, which was convenient to be able to rest/lay down after a long day of hiking in the snow. Would have been perfect to end the night in a hot tub to warm up which I was really looking forward to each day. parking was easy and conveniently located to the rooms. I was able to see and access my car from the patio of my room for easy...
Read moreWe are a family of five and recently chose to stay at the Bumbleberry Inn because we were visiting Zion National Park. I liked this hotel for many reasons. The Bumbleberry Hotel is very close to Zion. I wanted to limit driving to and from Zion National Park each day. Bumbleberry is located very close to Zion National Park. Also, you simply step outside your Bumbleberry hotel room, and roasted red-colored rocks near Zion are there to greet you. The beautiful scenery, surrounding mountains, and close location to many of the stores related to Zion activities make Bumbleberry a very convenient location. Our family loved Pizza and Noodles, located almost right across the street from the Bumbleberry Inn. The Zion Shuttle service stop to and from Zion National Park is opposite the hotel parking lot. Many of the best restaurants and ice cream shops are within walking distance of the Bumbleberry. We have children, and they love Bumbleberry's swimming pool. Our children loved swimming in the pool and would get distracted momentarily when they realized the mountains of Zion encased the Bumbleberry property. Staying at Bumbleberrys allows those staying there to receive breakfast at Porter's for free. Porters recommend that you tip your waiting staff, but it is not required. The morning breakfast at Porter's was a welcomed change from the usual continental breakfast we were used to on our vacation.
We were greeted by wild deer, elk, and other local wildlife on Bumbleberry's property for several days during our stay. Our children enjoyed getting up close and personal with the wildlife that seemed comfortable with tourists walking around Bumbleberry's property. The entire stay in Springdale, Utah, and Zion National Park was made only better by staying at the Bumbleberry. The hotel staff was friendly and provided everything we requested, such as a cot, pillows, and blankets. Bumbleberry was a fantastic place to aid our recovery after walking the Narrows and ascending Angels Landing. I would highly recommend staying here if you plan to stay in Springdale, Utah, or want a place near Zion...
