I rarely leave reviews and as you can see from my Google history they are always positive. However, the man that worked in this shop today (20th February at 11:00am) was rather odd. We had a great chat about climbing, hiking and he seemed very nice.
I was looking for a t-shirt that was not made of cotton, I found one, went to purchase it. Whilst the $97 T-shirt was on the counter (not cheap but looks good quality) he offered my friend a 10% local’s discount for some shoes she was looking at buying.
I then asked him if I too could have the local’s discount. He said, “no”, because I was already buying the T-shirt. He was using a 10% discount to “close the sale”. A very awkward silence then followed.
I didn’t know if he was joking. My friend then joked that we would put the tshirt back and he gave us a very fake smile and said “have a great day ladies”. It was toe-curlingly awkward. And made us feel uncomfortable.
This conversation made him suddenly seem incredibly disingenuous, I hope he gains some more sales experience to know that this is not the way to act in front of customers.
A tip for the future: don’t offer one party a discount to close a sale infront of another party who hasn’t paid yet. Especially if they’re friends. Neither of us will be returning to this store - I think a $9 discount would’ve been worth keeping two customers who are avid outdoor enthusiasts.

Read moreWe initially came in to buy things we thought we needed for the Angels Landing hike. Amber spent about a half hour giving us advice on the hike (which was very helpful and really made our hike better and eased our minds the night before). She convinced us we didn't need to buy any special gear which was true. When I decided I needed some sun protection I went back the next night. As soon as she saw me she asked how her hike went. She helped me choose the perfect item and everything was on sale, so it was a great experience. And again her advice was perfect, I wore my new sun shirt the rest of the trip and it actually kept me cool and I didn't have to put on slimy sunblock. I know I'll be back to Zion and I will definitely stop and do some more shopping here. A wonderful...
Read moreThough this is not a huge gear shop, we found what we were looking for and received excellent service. My wife needed a backpack for all the hiking we were going to do and the manager was very helpful, spending a lot of time answering questions, checking the fit, and even loading the pack with weight to let her check how it would feel under load. This was time well spent, as she thoroughly enjoyed the pack and found it quite comfortable on all our excursions and hikes over the following days. He also suggested hiking pants for our somewhat picky teenager, which the teen liked and wore throughout the rest of the trip. As for me, I was happy with the trekking poles he...
