I went through the website, but struggled to get a good picture of which rooms were available, which ones would work for us, and how much each would cost (there's something in there about WD and WE (?winter vs summer? Washer Dryer and... not?, which changed the rates for a single suite). So I reached out giving information about how many we would be, and the number of kids, and dates of travel, and all that, and asked them what was still available. I also asked if the bride would be staying there since I wanted to be close by if possible for wedding prep and all that. They told me to look at the website. That's all they said.
So I responded and spelled out the specific questions that one traveling with children might have: are any suites particularly good or bad for children, which ones have the right spacing for having a crib in the bedroom, which rooms have a separate bedroom that can be closed off, etc. And I reiterated the question about the bride.
I guess I was just looking for something like, "Hi, the XYZ room would be perfect for you! It's still available for those nights at a rate of $200/night. If you're looking for a less expensive option, the ABC room would probably do, though the curtained French doors do let some of the light in to the closed off bedroom." If they didn't want to respond about the bride staying there, that's fine! I get not sharing information about other guests. But my initial email wasn't unreasonable, and even my secondary email was pretty fair for an email to a hotel / inn.
They responded: "Don't think it would be a good fit for you and we do not give out information about our guest. Kind regards".
Literally, that's it. I'm not going to be a good fit because I have questions after you didn't respond with any information? Or because I have kids? Or what? When I read that response, it just sounded exactly what I've heard snooty New Englanders to be like. How do they run a...
Read moreSpotlessly clean and designed with a good balance of modern and historic styling. Exceptional location on Main Street with views of hillsides and the church across the street. Efficient check in with codes. We stayed one night in a downstairs suite and one night in the two bedroom. The downstairs suite was a perfect size and setup. The only criticism is that the armchairs are a little worn and appear dirty due to wear. Probably time for replacement. The two bedroom would be very nice for two couples, a family, or friends traveling together. However, one of the bedrooms had an issue with its air unit which was extremely noisy. If we had had to sleep in that room, I would have contacted the owner for a remedy.
The reason I took off a star is because this inn is also home to the most popular breakfast on Main Street, and there is no benefit to staying there that helps you get into breakfast. You have to sign up on the yelp waitlist with everyone else. However, even though we got online as soon as the list opened, it was not taking reservations. After an hour or so we realized the only way to get on the list was to go downstairs and use the computer in the front hall. Even if inn customers don’t get an automatic spot at breakfast, it would be nice if they at least got proper instructions for how to get on the waitlist instead of being directed to yelp.
We did eventually get in for breakfast, and it was a great space and great food. Overall, a wonderful property that I would...
Read moreThe restaurant in Butler house, Butler's pantry is a small restaurant in downtown Stowe. Me and 5 other people went there for breakfast. Once we had all arrived we got our coffee and water. Then we ordered our food. Our server, who never gave us his name, was very loud while close to one person. Almost yelling to tell us the breads. Then on the 3rd person he wasn't sure what came with his meal. (Someone else had prdered the same thing). After waiting for maybe 45 minutes or more we start getting our food. A different person had brought our and refilled our drinks for us. In that time we never heard from our server. Someone had ordered a bloody Mary when we ordered food which did not arrive until we had all gotten half way through eating. The food was good but I can't say it was worth waiting almost an hour for. When we got the check we were getting it separate, but we're never asked. The server had no idea who ordered what so someone just said screw it and took care of the tab and we paid him. The service was horrible to say the least, and the food was decent. After my experience it was not worth the price (over $100 for breakfast)...
