There are going to be those areas in north country towns that offers the visitor or the tourist a catch-all of the things that are happening in that area. A beach town might have tye-dye and surf shirts, sandals and sunscreen. Here, at Stowe Mercantile, you'll see all the little parts that make Vermont a big thing.
I loved walking down into this place where it was a mix of a bookstore, a coffeeshop, and a souvenir store. Walking into the building of the Stowe Mercantile will present you with a lot of things. I recommend budgeting at least 2 to 3 hours of time here. This is a great place to start your trip, because when you see everything that is here, it'll inform your future curiosities and interests to explore around the area.
Maybe you'll explore the sweeter side of Vermont by checking out the apple ciders or maple syrups. It's possible your interest in industry and manufacturing will take up your time, as the local sustainable producers of home goods are sold in the same store. I'm not sure how big fashion is in the northern states, but there is a decent selection of tops to peruse through while someone else in your party takes a look at the locally made kitchenware.
Coming here was just plain fun. And when compared to some other places in the White Mountains, Stowe Mercantile has a sense of curation to it. There was a sense of pride in the display of the products and an order to it.
I will come back here to get a hoodie, and it'll be a really nice addition to my collection of all...

There were so many cute things to look at from ornaments, candles, hand made items, adorable Vermont t-shirts, vintage Vermont pictures, and all kinds of local delicacies.
I really wanted to buy Vermont Maple syrup but there were multiple choices and I didnât know what they meant and how to make my decision. I found a nice woman who worked there and nicely explained it to me and that they have a long shelf life. I really appreciated her patience and kindness. I also really loved the maple candies. They were so good.
My cousin got me a really cute wooden ornament with a covered bridge that I wanted and a nice Vermont Magnet. She also got my mom and I beautiful Vermont glass ornaments with the Stowe gondola and a covered bridge.
My husband and I also got two cute Vermont t-shirts that were a great price and we really love. Theyâre super soft and really nice. Canât wait to wear them.
Definitely check them out. They have friendly and helpful staff and amazing...
