Homewood Suites by Hilton Buford Mall of GA — Hotel in Sugar Hill

My nephew already posted a review of Homewood Suites Mall of Georgia in Buford Georgia but I wanted to add my own. After being a loyal Hilton and Hilton honors member for over 30 years, this is the first time I've been so disappointed and disrespected. I reserved the room with reward points and put my 30 year old nephew on the reservation so he could check in without me. The hotel refused to check him in even though I call ed them and Hilton Honors customer service also called them & explained his name was on the reservation. the Homewood Suites definitely needs training on Hilton Policies, customer service and also diversity, because it is clear to me they did not want to check in a young black man. The front desk person even told my nephew it wouldn't do any good to call me because they could have hacked my phone. Proven guilty by what the person looks like? What kind of customer service is that? Even Hilton Honors customer service thought something was amiss and apologized that he could not get the hotel to reconsider. The hotel cancelled the reservation without informing me and my nephew from Ohio, had to find accommodations elsewhere. It put a damper what was supposed to be a graduation celebration. This is newer hotel to this area from my understanding and its location is perfect. There are tons of restaurants, cafes, a Starbucks, Sprouts grocery store, sweets/treats cafes, etc in walkable distance. Pickle Social, Andretti Center, and Top Golf walkable for entertainment. Mall of Georgia within 2 miles for those who like to shop.

The hotel is also amazing. Super quiet even during busy times. Very clean! Hotel lobby offers lots of areas for semi-private seating options. Outdoor area is well kept- fireplace, cornhole game, and bucket ball toss , etc.

As far as the room- it was perfect for our family. We stayed in one of the king suites with the 1 bedroom option because we had a family of 4. Adults have a private bedroom and kids have a pullout couch. Both were comfortable. This particular room had a full kitchen that’s well stocked with pots, pans, plates, etc. Even had a washer and dryer if you needed one. Staff were amazing- very attentive, customer service oriented, and quickly respond to any special requests. Lastly, breakfast was better than any other average “hot breakfast” hotel. We stayed here two months ago and loved it so much that when traveling to Paducah, Kentucky we stayed at another Homewood, and this weekend tried to stay here again. The Hilton Honors app was not working properly and someone from Hilton reserved the hotel for me, but they accidentally reserved Home2 less than 2 miles away. We have been very disappointed. Homewood was great but Home2 is not. The people’s effort here is just as good but Home2 is not near as good of a place to stay. We dealt with odd smells, dogs barking across the hall after midnight, breakfast disappointing, coffee creamer budget hotel packets, room set up good but not as nice, location heavy traffic, parking lot design is odd making the side door seem like the front door, bathroom door that is a waste, outdoor area not near as nice as Homewood, I could go on and on.

Basically go to Homewood and make 1000% sure you go to Homewood and NOT Home2. Hilton messed up our weekend with...
