This used to be one of my favorite spots. I am even embarrassed to admit there were times I would go multiple times a week. Unfortunately I will not be returning after today.
I ordered an ice cream without whipped cream. I am not sure where the miscommunication was but Fidel handed me a cup filled with more whipped cream than ice cream. I politely said I ordered the ice cream without whipped cream and asked if he could remake it. I am not sure why that request caused such internal chaos, but the the employees were angry and scolding each other which made me as a customer feel uncomfortable. He came back with the same ice cream saying that it was ordered with whipped cream. Even though I am sure i did not order the ice cream with whipped cream, perhaps the person taken the order misheard, I said can you please remake it as my mom doesn’t like whipped cream. I watched as one employee started to remake the ice cream but was stopped and scolded. I also saw some employees gather with the original ice cream cup near the trash taking off the whipped cream and adding more ice cream in the same cup instead of remaking it.
I asked Fidel whether this was the same cup of ice cream or a different one and he tried to gaslight me saying it was a different cup even though I had a clear view of everything that transpired. I asked if he was sure because i could still clearly see whipped cream in the cup. He said that it was more ice cream. I then inquired about the ice cream cup the other employee was making which was the same exact order. It was still left at the counter since the employee was scolded for remaking it. Fidel said it was for another order (even though it was abandoned after one employee told the other not to remake it) and to have a good day. I just said thank you and left.
Overall very disappointed and concerned how they handled the situation . I’m sure it is also a sanitary and health (allergies) concern for them to scrap product they mistakenly add to the ice cream instead of simply remaking it. I know it sounds a little dramatic to be upset about ice cream, but I do not see why the employees had to fight over their mistake instead of simply rectifying it when we were not upset about their mistake. I simply wanted my mom to be able to eat her ice cream. I honestly would have even paid for another ice cream (even though they didn’t refund us for the whipped cream they took off or offered to) if they would be willing...
Read moreClearly people that rate this place so high, have never been to actual good places in buford.
The burgers here are almost identical to steak 'n shakes. Heck they even look the same. When you order a fish plate , you get the smallest two pieces of cod you will ever see.
Where they lost me was customer service. Overgrown ex football players, comes to mind. Acting like complete zombies serving you. I give the guy a 20, then tells me he has no change in the drawer.
As he walks, correction slowly with a "I seem lost" look on his face to get change somewhere in China. I am standing there 10 min waiting. Until he decided to crawl his way back to give me back change.
Okay, that happens, I order on way out their famous ice cream. I am waiting for another 10 min until a nice lady server. Passes me and asked " can I help you" ..I told her I am waiting for my ice cream. She made it happen, all the while the zombie who actually took my order stands right there...doing absolutely nothing for 10 min. Staring me in the face as I make a gesture and said "really dude"
I will use their drive tru, as I do like their ice cream. But burgers?! It's nothing to be "wowed" about , it's steak 'n shake to me. Only with crappier service..
I totally would not go out of my way to eat there anytime soon again. It's good food, but nothing new or extraordinarily good.
Edit: just read the reaction on some of the reviews here by the "owner" just that alone should keep any intelligible person away.
He/she reacts on some of them like a petulant 2 year old. That got his/her lolly stolen.
Totally avoiding it now, and for the people that like it?! The more power to you really, I rather pay more and get quality...
Read moreMy first experience with Culver's was this evening at the Buford, GA location that opened last month. We went through the drive-thru & my son ordered a burger & fries with a Slice, my wife ordered the Cod Basket & onion rings with a slice, & I ordered chicken tenders. When we pulled up to the window, the $14 total clued us in that our order was screwed up: they somehow switched my son's order to a burger & onion rings with a Slice, my order was OK, but my wife's order was gone. So, we re-ordered the cod basket & the fries that got swapped from my son's order. They gave us a plastic number, asked us to pull forward & said they would bring out the cod & fries. And so we waited. Workers walked past us running food to other cars, and we waited. My son finished his burger, I finished my tenders (though my dipping sauce wasn't in the bag). And we waited. We ate the onion rings & finshed the beveridges. And we were done waiting. My son went inside to get our money back for the cod basket with fries. Minutes later, he came out with a bag instead of the refund, telling us that our order had been sitting in there but nobody brought it out to us. We drove home & my wife opened her bag an found that instead of a cod basket, she had a cod sandwich. Not surprisingly, the Cod was cold, and my dipping sauce wasn't in her bag either. The workers seemed very confused, and our experience certainly did not dispel this perception. The Cod & burger were OK, the chicken was pretty good, and the onion rings were good. The fries were cold but decent flavor & texture suggest that they might have been good, once. We might give them another shot...
