Was initially very impressed with this Motel 6, despite the location which is a crossroads and therefore must generate its share of issues, it appeared clean and had amenities like coffee in the morning. Room appeared clean and shower worked well. Issue was on second day as we were departing. They decided to begin an air conditioner clean out project with long tubes going along the upstairs walkway while cleaning lady with carts were working. Woman in charge, think her name was Stephanie, came to the room and pretty much told us that this was happening now in our room even though we still legally had an hour and a half before check out and I had scheduled to work remotely. Workers came in threw a tarp on one of our beds, began to dissemble the ac unit, used noisy spray thing that threw water on the floor, I tried to stand out side by the ac unit and work while keeping vigil on my stuff in the room but it was really hot and noisy and the woman in charge ,who has one of the most unpleasant personalities, would glare at me. I felt like calling the sheriff since I paid for the room til 11AM. It made no sense for them to be doing it especially since it involved water on the floor by the door of the room, it was difficult to walk…I told her it was a lawsuit in the making if someone fell. My son who is autistic had to put up with the noise and help me pick up our electronics which we had placed by the door earlier expecting to carry them to the car so they would not get wet. As I checked out, woman at desk was equally offensive, claiming there were signs. Yeah, signs on letterhead with big words Welcome to Motel 6 and under it a bunch if words that a person my age needs reading glasses to see. They were located on the opposite side of the place you check in and on the door to the vending area that I did not notice…should have said Attention or something…just looked like I hope you enjoy your stay message.. It would have been more appropriate…still hard to believe though…had I been told about as I checked in…came by check in twice never told or if a note had been placed on the door or under the door so we might be alert to something happening that morning. Especially if this was planned, they should have offered people who were in a room affected by this a different room that night. I initially booked on night since the riots in DTLA meant that my office was running on a day by day remote work option and extended it another day based on what was happening by my office. As they worked, a half eaten apple core rolled out …room not even cleaned right…we do not eat apples that way…really disgusting. I asked for a credit since this was totally inappropriate….instead told no refunds. I guess it is one of those hotels that run on homeless vouchers or something so guests are expected to put up or get out. I know I wont be back. Lots of nice hotels in the area run by better chains like Marriot, so there are options. As I was driving, noticed my skin was breaking out all over with bumps, either hives from being allergic to what they had done, or the stress, or as my husband who saw them later said, bedbugs…so my advice do not stay there, even if they left the light on…like the old commercial stated back when motel 6 was a decent...

So here's the full deal. This is one of the best Motel 6s I've ever been in. BUT, it is a Motel 6. If you misspelled Hyatt, or Marriott, Wynn or Westin - try again - this is not that. There's no - clock, good soap, thick towels, iron, or luxury amenities in the rooms. There are beds, with sheets (ya!), Walmart grade towels, a TV, a phone and an ice bucket. That's it. Don't they have a. . . NO, they don't. There is coffee in the lobby in the mornings.

Remember, all they promised was to leave the light on for you.

WHAT I LOVE -- What I mostly love are the laminate/wood floors. Looks and feels much much better than 20 year old dark stained carpet that can still be found in the best hotels, selected with dark colors or random patterns to hide the multiple of stains they knew would come.

This location cares about the property. It is always clean. Sometimes there are more workers bustling about, than guests.

Early check-in. Pleasant staff.

Close to everything, including 15 min or less to the closest casino. Walk to Old Town. Plenty of food options around.

CONS:

I guess there is no way to keep out the Rift-raft.

This is the most affordable most decent motel in the area, so it attracts people looking for cheap accommodations. Groups of young people can get a room, smoke, get drunk/high for $10 a piece a night. They aren't the quiet sort, and sometimes it can get loud. Sometimes 'shady looking' characters can be seen 'loitering' in the lot. Then, just as you are trying to figure out which drug s/he might be on, s/he will stagger to a room and stumble inside - I guess everyone can afford to stay here. There are signs everywhere and signs reminding you to lock your car.

During my last stay 4-6 construction worker types, pulled out in their pick-up trucks apparently heading to work at 6AM. Since the party people didn't settle down til after 5, I was a little annoyed. Presumably the cost is low enough to attract temporary workers that might be in the area on a gig.

The only other thing I don't like is the black out curtain they use. There is no way to let in any natural sunlight without also allowing people walking by directly outside the window to see inside. Even a sheer...
