I've been coming here since I was a girl (before 2000). My first experience was in their largest room, and it was amazing. The kitchen was huge with the TV mounted on the wall (very high-tech back then!). Everything was perfect. I felt like it was just my family there and nobody else. Everyone kept to themselves.
20+ years later... I've only stayed in their smaller rooms recently. One that we accidentally booked was stifling. I've been in bathrooms slightly smaller than the whole space in that one. *It seems all of the corner rooms are cramped. (- Luckily when I asked for a different room, there was one available, so we moved. -)
I don't consider this hotel the best place you can go, but that being said... You do get a lot for a good price. A full kitchenette is in every room, they are fairly clean, and they have an outdoor pool. They are about a quarter mile walk down to the water at the beach, and they have a shower for when you come back from the beach.
I'd like to see cleaner floors... Every time I step on the floor (specifically the carpet) my feet or socks turn black. I think they should tear up the carpets and do tile floors instead... I think that would much be cleaner.
During our most recent stay, I was awoken at about 7am by guys running around on the roof and pounding hammers, repairing the solar panels. That was horrible... (-_-) We weren't warned in advance that anything was going to be occurring on the roof, so I was extremely cranky...
It's certainly is a charming place that hasn't changed much over the years, but the crowd has. There are many people that go down and congregate in the area beside the pool nearly all day long, so that's awkward. I like to be alone, and I certainly don't feel it, especially when you need to walk past that crowd to go down to the beach... I know they're probably not staring at me as I walk past, but still... It's awkward.
Also, every morning when you go out for fresh air, you're slapped in the face with cigarette smoke. I had to get used to not going out to enjoy the morning air. Disappointing...
A couple things have caused this visit to be disappointing this time around... For the price, it's good, and I'm not sure anyone can match that. However, I am considering alternative lodging for our...
Read moreWe stayed at Sea Chest treasure Island Florida this August and had some issues. First off there was a large Palmetto bug and found several small roaches the next morning. ||I had killed the bugs with paper towels, and showed the dead bugs to the clerk . ||We were told by the front desk clerk that the problem with the bugs was because of the construction tearing down a building next-door. The other issue was that one of the beds in our room was very hard. We asked if we could be moved to another room with a softer bed. We were told that there were no rooms available for at least two days due to work being done. ||We were told that we would be able to get a refund as the front desk clerk talked with the owner before we left the Sea Chest that morning and provided us a receipt showing a refund. We were told that the manager would write the check and I could pick the check within a couple of days . Today I was told that we would not be getting a refund because we canceled without a 21 day notice. ||An excuse was that this is Florida and there are bugs everywhere. ||There is nothing in the cancellation policy |that says you cannot cancel if there are roaches and bugs in the room.||Be very aware THERE ARE BUGS! ||The excuse was that it is Florida and there’s bugs everywhere. ||We spoke to several people that we met who actually live in Florida and said there’s bugs outside but never ever in their homes. ||We received excuses...
Read moreI am beyond disappointed with my recent experience at this hotel, particularly due to the behavior of an older female staff member who falsely accused me of using illegal substances. I am a licensed medical marijuana patient and was using my medication discreetly and legally, in full compliance with state laws. Despite this, I was approached with extreme rudeness and accused of doing something illegal without any basis or professionalism. Her tone was condescending and accusatory, completely disregarding my medical needs and the respectful manner in which I’ve carried myself. I’ve stayed at numerous hotels and never been treated with such hostility or ignorance. Not only was this embarrassing, but it was discriminatory and unacceptable. The staff should be trained on how to approach guests with dignity and an understanding of medical rights. I’ve had a wonderful rapport with many other businesses, and this experience was a jarring and disappointing contrast. Until there is accountability for this staff member and proper training is implemented, I cannot recommend this hotel to anyone especially those with...
