My companion and I rode our bikes down to Treasure Island, and he was starving so we stopped here to grab a bite. The wait was about 40 minutes, which for a Saturday evening is to be expected, and they had a little outdoor sitting area which was a comfortable place to hang out in the meantime. Our waitress was very friendly, described patiently every question I had about their menu (I take my food ordering pretty seriously ๐๐), and even almost tempted us into getting a dessert, despite how full we were. The atmosphere was nice, quiet, and a good place for a celebration, date night, or just to treat yourself. For our appetizer we ordered the Gouda Cheese Fondue with Pita Bread, and that was much more tasty than I was anticipating. I am not a big cheese fan, but this fondue had little bits of artichoke, peppers, and other things we were trying to figure out, and in the end I basically ate it with a spoon and scraped the sides of the ramekin for more. My companion got the duck dish, and I had a bite, of course. I've had duck at pretty nice places before (like Berns Steakhouse lol) and this one was waaaay better! There was no skin, which was a good thing, and it was so juicy and tender and with this cherry sauce that I ended up using to eat my Pork Tenderloin with, it was that amazing. That dish was so good, I spent the night wishing I had ordered that instead of my own. My Pork Tenderloin was good, of course, and I ate the whole thing. It was cooked well, tender, and the sauce to it complimented the meat, but again, I loved the duck's cherry sauce so much that I dipped the majority of my pork into it. Highly...
ย ย ย Read moreAs yearly visitors to Treasure Island, we tried Middle Grounds for the first time on recommendation of our Airbnb host. Honestly, I have mixed reviews. Let's start with the good stuff first. The food was good and the service was spectacular. Our waitress was friendly, took excellent care of us, and was very knowledgeable about the menu items. The ambiance is nice. Like any other restaurant, you could wear a tank top & shorts or a dressy outfit, and fit in either way, but this did have a "fancier" vibe to it. The wait staff was also dressed nicer than most places. We sat by the big fish tank and that was also fun to watch. Ok, so the negatives...first of all, the food was good, but I wouldn't say it was any better than any other meal I've had in Treasure Island. The reason it's a negative is because the food and cocktail prices were higher, but the portions were smaller than most other restaurants we visited. We ordered two appetizers: the eggroll and the conch fritters. They both tasted good, but the portion sizes were disappointing. We literally got one eggroll, cut in half. The fritters were tiny; about a third of the size of other restaurants. For my entrรฉe, I ordered the scallops. They were good, but again I felt they were a bit overpriced. I also ordered a cocktail which was very good, but tiny. I just didn't feel like the meal was a good value overall. Lastly, this may sound weird, but for being somewhat of a "fancier" restaurant and for having the higher prices, their menus look like total trash. They look very outdated and were falling apart. The could definitely...
ย ย ย Read moreOur trip here was very random. We just needed somewhere to go to have a nice dinner. We didn't do any research, just saw it was nearby and went. With that being said, as a family we highly highly recommend this restaurant!! They have valet parking but we walked from our hotel. However, even the guys working the valet were friendly and greeted us! It was a Friday night and they were booming but the hostess was very polite, informative, and just all around on top of her game with a warm smile. There was a wait but there is a surf shop next door we were able to stroll through. They also have a very nice patio waiting area for patrons if you'd rather sit and sip while you wait. When we were seated, Justin waited on us and he treated us like friends! Seriously tho, we didn't encounter 1 rude staff member all evening!! Now onto the food. Our daughter is a very picky eater but she absolutely loved their food and even commented on how we needed to go back. That is a big deal! I had the Oscar stuffed portobello, calamari, and Milk Chocolate Martini. The food was all so flavorful and you could tell it was all very fresh! Not just fresh from the ocean but freshly made to order and didn't sit under a heat lamp!! Then that martini was a delicious dessert in a glass! My wifes steak was drool worthy!!! Which, she is super picky about how her steak is done and it was just pure perfection!! They gave her a steak knife but I'm sure she could of used the butter knife! We will definitely be back and we encourage everyone to give this...
