Stayed for about a month. Pros: room service came everyday Pets allowed Cheapest rate we could find Cold ac Two of the three front desk girls were pretty nice and professional Offered refund for checking out early (though we still haven't received this)
Cons: almost constant smell of marijuana Kind of sketchy area Lots of people hanging around outside and in the lobby all hours of the day and night Strip club across the street Thin walls people randomly asking for money in the parking lot
While we were there there was a party overbooked in the restaurant downstairs. Front desk informed us they'd be there till 1 a.m. and if it got too loud or we had any problems to let them know. A few hours later my husband went down to complain that the marijuana smell was so strong we couldn't even sleep. It was literally making us sick. Nothing was done and we ended up having to leave for most of the night. The rooms are old and a bit outdated but fairly clean. Our ac worked and was very cold however was coming away from the wall and leaked . We had no chain lock on our door which they did fix and the bathroom door was broken which they also fixed while we were there. Black mold in a corner of the bathtub. Beds were decent. Some of the bedding did have what appeared to be cigarette burns. Carpet seemed like it needed a good shampooing. Overall for price and location was doable Bug free except for a few ants which was quickly taken care of with the can of ant spray we went down and got from the front desk. Also pool was closed do to what we were informed was a health department closure due to an infection (not sure what that was) One of the front desk girls though was overheard yelling at a potential guest. Very unprofessional! Also no complimentary breakfast. Housekeeping did make sure we had everything we needed while we were there. The main reason I can't give it more stars is because of the overwhelming...
Read moreMy partner and a couple of my friends and I were in town for matsuricon this weekend. the hotel itself was fine. the man at the front desk was very nice and helpful and even came up to our room to fix our fridge the first night. it was after this that we noticed that the bottoms of all of our feet were pitch black from walking around on the carpet for maybe not even ten minutes. we did NOT find any bedbugs at any point during our stay. the bed skirts on both of the beds had cigarette burns in them. the bathroom was clean enough. the beds were hard as a rock.
then came the second night. everything was fine until the beautiful hour of 5:45 in the morning, where all 4 of us are woken up by the most blood curdling alarm coming from the PA system. and then nothing. i thought it was the end of days. i peeked into the hallway to investigate and the fire alarms were flashing, but not beeping. my partner went to the front desk where he was told it was a false alarm and someone pulled it on accident. okay that’s fine whatever we all try to go back to sleep.
the third night, we keep randomly hearing what we can only describe as either a jackhammer or a chainsaw. it sounded like someone was doing construction. we were all awake at 2 am when we were still hearing this.
the area the hotel is in seemed to be fine during the day. we walked to waffle house and didn’t feel unsafe but when we were walking back in from the con, we wanted to get to the room as quick as we possibly could. i don’t think there was a night where there weren’t cops and ambulances flying down the street while we were out there.
overall, aside the carpets were disgusting and the false fire alarm, our stay wasn’t TOO bad. the area is definitely not the safest. the man up front was VERY nice and helpful but the blonde lady seemed very short and standoffish. we probably will...
Read moreIt's simply not well cleaned-the room. It's clean enough, but not sparkling. Baseboards are not in their wheelhouse. Old and dated room. Carpet is stained in places and has burn areas. Old linens with little burn holes in them. NO BUGS. I think the beds and pillows are comfy, daughter says too hard of a mattress. The bathroom feels like you're in a camper bathroom. Low drop ceilings. Room has a micro-wave, TV, fridge, coffee pot. AC/heat functional. Hot shower. The reason I booked this place was the great reviews/ratings for Wifi. Sometimes it's spotty, but it improved somehow and I'd say overall it's great. This place has thin walls-can hear neighbors. Can hear them arguing on their cell phones and with each other. Someone has a kitten, can hear that mewing and meowing. Someone has an infant, can hear that squawking, but that's what babies do and mama gets a pass on that, understandable. Outside in the lot people just hanging about, playing music in their vehicles, cleaning them out like we're at a self serve car wash. I've never seen so many people hanging out in a parking lot for fun in all my days. Conversations and nonsense. The price you pay for wifi. There's always sirens blaring passing by on Brice road. It's a shady neighborhood. I'm not sure about the 1st floor, but the 2nd floor reaks of pot. There's a restaurant/bar on site, haven't seen it yet. The owners don't advertise it either. Waffle house is a minute walk away across the lot. The lot and landscaping are adequate. It's not offensive to look at. It's cheap. Like...
