Our stay at the Ambassador Hotel in Tulsa for our 20th wedding anniversary was exceptional. We wanted to have a night of good r & r and that is exactly what the Ambassador provided. The hotel front desk staff were very accomodating and overwhelming nice. I can't express how much they contributedto the enjoyment of our experience. The turn down service was a nice addition to the stay, the attendant was very sweet and helpful.
My only complaint about thhe establishment would be the food provided by the Chalkboard Restaurant. The staff taking the orders and the servers were exceptional. My complaint is solely about the food and drink quality. I had the pan roasted bone in chicken breast w/garlic mashed potatoes, spinach & artichoke hearts w/ a dijon mustard beurre blanc. The portion size was great, but the chicken was dry, the potatoes were poorly seasoned and the beurre blanc was overpowering. My wife had the petite filet with smoked corn puree, fingerling potatoes and peas. The meal was fantastic and seasoned well, but it was small and the smoked corn puree was scarce, which was sad, because it was truly awesome.
The drinks; a strawberry fennel pie and I forget the other were mediocre at best. The chocalate pie was very good but the crust was to dry, making it hard to swallow. We ended the meal feeling hungry and a little dissapointed. The next morning, my breakfast was incorrect when delivered and my wife's eggs were overdone and cold since she didn't feel comfortable eating while I had to wait. When the right french toast arrived which was stuffed french toast it looked more like a 2 pieces of french toast smashed together with cream cheese and fruit in the middle.
Again, the hotel was spectacular and the staff was beyond everything we could hope for. We will definitely come back. However, we might choose to eat somewhere...
Read moreAs a treat we decided to spend 3 nights at this 'luxury' hotel. We spent over $2000 for the privilege and left feeling a little bit cheated and massively underwhelmed.||As part of our rate we received 3 x $100 vouchers which could be redeemed at the Chalkboard restaurant. This was nice but turned out to be of limited value to us. We had no intention of eating dinner at the hotel for 3 consecutive nights for a number of reasons - firstly there was only a limited vegetarian offering; secondly, we wanted to explore the city and not be tied; thirdly we planned to use the vouchers to cover breakfast (Breakfast is not included!!!) and then use the 'change' to perhaps have one dinner at the hotel. You can't do that - we were told in no uncertain terms!! There is no change from each $100 voucher - so we ended up wasting 2 of the vouchers on 2 breakfasts that probably only cost $50 each and then spent one on a nice dinner.||The other huge issue we had with this hotel is the poor level of cleaning and attention to detail in the room. There were nasty black stains on the bed linen, on the carpet and to one of the curtains. The vinyl (faux leather) chair was so disgustingly filthy that we never used it without covering it with a bath towel. There was a large crack to the toilet seat.||We bought all of these issues to the attention of a manager and to her credit she refunded the cost of one night.||A real shame - what should have been a highlight left a sour taste and...
Read moreThis was our second stay at the Ambassador in Tulsa. We often stay here overnight when we fly out the next day on a trip.
For the second time, we were impressed with several things.
First, the free Escalade SUV available to take you to dinner or wherever is worth the choice of staying there. We arranged it ahead of time to take us to dinner. Justin drove us to the restaurant, gave us a card with his cell phone number, and we just called him from the restaurant when we needed to leave.
Second, we stayed in a corner room, which is huge. Very impressed with the size of the rooms and the alcove desk where you can sit and get some work (or surfing) done.
Third, we ordered breakfast in our room both times and each time we were impressed. The oatmeal brulee was unusual but delicious and the bacon I had this time was probably some of the crispiest, thickest I’ve ever had.
Fourth, there’s a Keurig in the room and they’ll drop off several k-cups for you in the evening with turn-down service if you ask.
Fifth and weirdly, they have the best robes I’ve ever seen - fleece on the inside, so they’re very heavy, thick and warm.
The only complaint I have is the shower head sits at about head level for someone who’s 5 foot 10. I was doing deep knee bends to get my hair wet in there.
We will definitely keep coming back. Friendly staff, parking was easy, and price is reasonable for how nice...
