I stayed 2 nights as a sola female, and I felt safe for the most part even when walking around alone to the nearby mall and bakery (which walking to it is not as close as it looks). Even though there are some people who suffer from drug addiction in the vicinity, they left me alone for the most part or were making nice conversation with me but I did see a car pull up in plain daylight to do some graffiti on the freeway wall that's adjacent from this motel. And the first night, there were a swarm of cop cars on the Travelodge next door but other than that at night it was quiet even when on the second night there were a convention of bikers staying there.
Now the room was on the better side than most motels of it's class. Yes, it had a muggy smell when I walked in, and the sheets and towels were discolored (or more like grayish/tannish hues target than white), one was ripped and the cheap 'comforter' had what I'm guessing was cigarette burns, and the bathtub didn't drain well like most of my experiences in motels BUT the room was clean, spacious, and the sheets smelled like laundry detergent bleach. The king bed was spacious and I had a comfortable sleep. I was staying on the corner of the second floor across the office and no one EVER bothered me or made me feel unsafe despite it being busy with lots of men staying on property (some looked like construction workers who might be there working on a nearby project). I would come back late at night, sometimes in car, sometimes walking and no issues there. Of course it's not the safest area but just be aware of your surroundings and you'll be fine especially if you're a single woman staying here alone.
I will agree with most other reviews, the owners/front desk personnel are not the friendliest. They're pretty dry with any additional requests or questions. I wanted to extend an extra night and was being charged more than I paid through a third party online booking site. So I asked if I could try rebooking online and was told I could go ahead but that I still had to check out and check back in several hours later or would still have to pay additional $25 fee if I wanted to stay in the room without having to move my stuff. So I just checked out, paid $50 more to stay at an actual hotel. It's ridiculous that it's all about $ without even having a care for their staff bc at the end of the day the housekeeper would have to clean a room that she could have been spare from cleaning to begin with. Oh and there's no way of declining housekeeping UNLESS you see them before you step out for the day. I wish there was an explicit option to give these ladies a break when possible. There was a working mini fridge in the room, no microwave. And plenty of places to place luggage, toiletries, etc. desk/chair/mirrors. And the usual toiletries packs that are never enough or of decent quality so bring your own especially conditioner because they only give soap bars and...

These are not false claims we have video and picture evidence as well and if this matter goes any further we will be considering legal actions. This is not for monetary reasons this is so people know where not to spend their hard earned money.
The day of the incident no one came to check the shower when it happened. Instead he dismissed us and didn’t want to help because they know what kind of place they’re running. This is not how a business should reply to a unsatisfied CUSTOMER. Implying that we’re stupid enough to not know how to use a shower is bizarre. Regardless the temperature should not have been scolding hot especially for someone who is older and diabetic. My funds should not be a topic of your interest you got paid for the horrible service and dirty messed up room so to imply anything else is highly unnecessary and disrespectful. How you and your staff handle business is horrible. You shouldn’t reply to customers in such a rude and condescending way and if this is how you’re going to handle your business or customers you definitely should not be in the customer service field.
Written on 2/27/24 Disappointing Stay I recently stayed here with my mother from February 13 2024 thru February 15 2024. The shower head and faucet were broken. The shower and faucet were running at the same time. The water from the faucet was extremely hot and the water in the tub didn’t go down due to poor drainage. Not only the water fail to drain properly but I also sustained burns from the scolding hot water when attempting to adjust the temperature. The bed sheets and pillows covers were covered in black stains, which is totally unacceptable and unsanitary I asked the front attendant how often do they change the bedding and he told me every other day. When I reported these issues to the front desk attendant who only gave me his name as “Mr. G”. Unhelpful and very dismissive. He said that we didn’t know how to use a shower. I asked him a couple of times to accompany me to the room to show him the problem and he refused to check. On top of the horrible stay I was charged $250.00 for two nights. Overall my stay at Walnut Inn was a complete let down. As a frequent traveler, I expected a much better service and accommodation. Hopefully the owner and manager take this feedback seriously and improve their standards and their employees. Until then I’ll be taking my...
