Memorial Day 2024 Monday May 27th I ordered two sushi rolls baked salmon from the bus boy at the Register who took my order. I asked him was it okay if I sat in the patio and eat he stated it was okay. I had my two nieces husband and brother in-law with me we had some drinks from their resturant and water with two salmon baked sushi rolls. My husband don't eat sushi nor do my brother in-law so they ordered lucilles barbaque. A waitress approached my nieces asking if she could help them and they told her no 2 minutes later Kenny this blond looking so-called manager told us we had to leave that we could not eat in the area due to the competition with lucilles barbque Kenny was very hostile with myself and my family he went on a full blown angry rant and threaten to call security on me and my family. The bus boy Hispanic looking guy told us to leave or he was gonna call the police now we are a black family and a Hispanic guy threaten to call the police over a non- violent issue he also laughted made fun of my husband in front of Kenny the so- called manager and they had another asian group of people eating in the patio area food not from their restaurant that they never asked to move they specifically came out pick and harrassment us embarrassing us by making us feel indifferent. This all started because the waitress told on us the lady in the black. And it made things even worse when Kenny the so- called manager called security and lied telling them we was refusing to leave when know such action ever happened. When security arrived the Hispanic bus boy pretended like he was cleaning table outside where we are talking and he was listening by ear hustling for the manager. He then laughted at my husband when he was told to leave by security and my husband just waling away laughting when his actions of using the police could have caused some harm over their pettiness. Kenny the so- called manager and the Hispanic bus boy gave permission to eat out on the patio and then they lied and said they never said it. Calling security or the police was unessassary. I'm think the Hispanic bus boy w is Kenny's minion looks like he was trying to get a promotion so he creeps around bothering customers by creating scandal for Kenny the manger to make extra bucks. Shame on both of...
Read moreIn short, just ok, not terrible, but unless you just need to have sushi for some reason & you're stuck at Plaza West Covina or you're just going for happy hour, I'd probably go somewhere else.
ITEM'S ORDERED:
California Roll (HH) Crunch Roll (HH) Chirashi Bowl
TASTE:
The California Roll & Crunch Roll were both alright, nothing really wrong with them just nothing so stand out enough that I'd pick them over other versions I've had at other places. Others I've had just had maybe better flavored crab meat, or the tempura shrimp was fresher in the roll. Alright deal for happy hour specials though.
Chirashi Bowl was also one of less impressive I've seen of this. Fish did not seem the freshest (not so bad I wouldn't eat it) & preparation was not the best since there was a scale in a couple pieces. I did enjoy the addition of seaweed salad & rice was seasoned well.
SERVICE, LOCATION & PARKING:
Service was friendly in the quite busy restaurant on a later Sunday afternoon. The server was still very nice when I asked to move tables since the one I was at was very hot. The AC ventilation seemed very uneven in the place & where I was originally seated was definitely too hot for a summer day.
They are located in Plaza West Covina on the side facing the freeway with all the other restaurants. It's closet/adjacent to Forever 21 in what used to be a Cajun restaurant if memory serves me right.
Interior is pretty basic with some cool fish lanterns hanging. If you're someone who is still really concerned with tables being socially distanced you'll be uncomfortable here since I even thought they had the tables quite close even not considering a pandemic. There's also outside seating.
I don't see myself returning here since there's for sure better sushi options available. But in a pinch, or for Happy hour it's...
Read moreAfter shopping around all day, we were getting hangry. It was around lunch time, and we saw this spot offered happy hour.
Parking: This spot is located along side West Covina Mall. We visited on a Saturday, so parking was a challenge.
Ambiance/Environment: They have a large space with plenty of indoor seating and a decent amount of outdoor seating. Outdoor seating has heaters. Perfect for groups of all sizes. There’s an open kitchen, and the place is very clean.
Service: There were many servers that assisted us. Unfortunately we didn’t catch any of their names, but everyone was attentive, quick, & efficient!
Everything we ordered from the Happy Hour Menu & Cocktail menu:
Their fish was absolutely FRESH! The Brussels sprouts were seasoned well. Their specialty cocktails were sweet and aesthetic. The sauce from the salmon carpaccio was flavorful. My favorites were the bluefin premium sushi! Can’t beat this price for bluefin anywhere! Presentation was also beautifully plated and garnished with a flower.
Pricing: Absolutely worth every bite! We left fulfilled and not hangry anymore lol. Such an affordable price for sushi. Highly recommend...
