The Apollo Resort Motel was ok if you have no where else to go and need a place to stay, but we felt it was over priced for what you got and it was definitely out dated not that we cared much about that. We rented the efficiency apartment that sleeps 6, 2 double beds in a bedroom that was very small. You couldn't even plug in the lamp in the bedroom because the outlet was on the other side of the room. The tub was clogged and filled up when we got our shower's. There was only 2 plates 3 cups and 3 - 4 forks & spoons. And 1 semi rusty pot for cooking. The sofa bed was old and the mattress was so thin and killed our backs, we could feel the bar under the mattress in our backs. Parking was terrible! The lot was set up to where you can get parked in by another person and if that happens you gotta find that person to let you out and if you can't find them your screwed and you'll be walking to where you wanna go or stuck where you are. Housekeeping was very nice and took care of your needs if you needed anything. The pool was nice, salt water pool, so that was nice opposed to a choloranated pool but the baby pool.... hahaha that's a joke!!! It was part of the bigger pool and bared off it was about 4ft by 5ft and that was it, it fit about 3-4 little ones in it or 2 adults and 2 little ones. T.v. in the bedroom didn't have a remote that even worked. The grills outside that you should be able to start with pushing a button because they were electric start grills didn't work with a push of a button, you had to use a lighter, so make sure if you go here to invest in a grill lighter because we had to borrow one from a neighbor. The patio by the grills was nice and the fact that it was practically on the beach was awsome! We all loved that! Grandkids loved the pool! Ohhhh and the BOARDWALK is 12 - 17 blocks away approximately a mile slightly more. We had read a review for this place and they said the boardwalk was only a couple blocks away within walking distance. Well 12 - 17 blocks isn't walking distance if you have 2 little kids walking with ya. So good luck to all. It's not a dive, it just needs some TLC in some area's, it was very...
Read moreI give this place three stars but I would definitely stay again. Our rooms were spacious, especially the bathroom. Things were very neat and clean. The proximity to the ocean and the side view are awesome. It makes it easy to walk on the beach at night which is a must! It is also fun to watch other vacationers walk by pulling heavy wagons or carts full of stuff while managing their kids. However, there are some things you need to know before you go. 1. There is NO elevator. So YOU have to carry your items up two flights of stairs. And if you have health challenges, you want to talk to the manager when you book your room. I watched a heavyset lady struggle up the stairs and it took her awhile. The stairs and balcony aren't secure. As you get closer to the top, the stairs start shaking and you notice a wire and a bolt holding them to the balcony. The balcony also shakes when someone walks by. We were eating dinner when some kids ran by and it felt like the entire room was going to fall. The TVs are 720p, not 1080. So you will be watching a bootleg movie most of the time. Yes, the sheets are very old and worn out. But they were clean. Kitchen has some dishes, and pots, but the can opener didn't work. If you seriously want to cook, bring your own stuff. There's a big fridge so go for it! The entire place is a tile floor. Bring a piece of carpet or a door mat. It will make a huge difference. I can't review internet bandwith because our room was near the hub, but I imagine it was weak the farther away you are away from it. And the office closes at 8 or 9pm. After that, you are out of luck. This is really not a review, it is more like advice on how to prepare if you choose to stay here. If I could get the same room again, I'd...
Read morePros: Beautiful View. Convenient location. Kitchenette. Comfortable dining chairs. Pretty shower curtain. Darkening curtains. 2 TVs. Private shared balcony with umbrella tables and loungers and chairs. Cons: No elevator. All around uncomfortable- Uncomfortable beds, hard as a rock sleeper couch that we only used as a couch, AC didnt reach beyond the bedroom, old blankets and no quilts so we walked in to beds with sheets. Flat pillows. Loud AC and loud fans though they drowned out the rowdy Elks guests. Stained lampshade. Dining chairs with tons of touch up paint though comfortable. Shower was slippery and unsafe. Questionable cleanliness: Found scum in curve of shower wall. 2 long black hairs found on the nicely hung towels. Old blankets on shelf in bedroom- mine had a stain and when I put it on the bed the sheets then became sandy. At 1am the last night, I pulled the fan pull and the globe came crashing to the floor. I called the front desk from my cell phone and got a machine. Left message saying I had nothing to clean it up. Got a phone call back around 5:40am with an apology and that they had a broom and dustpan by the front desk. I was asleep and by then I had swept it with a towel and we wore our shoes the rest of the night and morning. So at check out, I tell the man what happened, that there was some blood and that it could have been really ugly and the morning guy said, "wow, ok yeah the other guy told me something about that." I told him how it was "cleaned up" and he said ok. I don't recall an apology. I don't think we will return. Truly, I can overlook a lot and an elevator and cleanliness would have improved this review...
