We called in to the hotel to make our reservation because the type of accommodation we needed wasnt listed on Booking or any of the other sites. Right off the bat we had a negative vibe from the person answering the phone. She seemed completely disinterested in what we needed or in booking our room. But we continued because the other reviews were so good. Upon arrival and checking in, I mentioned this to the manager and he scoffed, saying he hates those sites. Okay. We were in room 146, ground floor, handicapped room, which is what we asked for. But it was not wheelchair accessible. Maybe in NV they dont have to be?? The screen door was ripped, the bars in the bathtub were loose and my disabled husband was afraid to hold onto them, the tv kept cutting out, the sink had a broken 'C' cap and the bathtub was filthy. I let management know and all they said was "thank you" and no offer to fix, correct, or change our room. They're not listed on Yelp and I wonder now why not. The decor was seriously outdated, but the beds were comfortable. It was mostly quiet. The hotel is pet friendly and for the most part we didnt hear any dogs until early a.m. when someone's car alarm was set off. We have no interest in gambling so maybe all of the 5 star reviews were because people won money?? In order to eat at the onsite Garden Cafe you have to walk through the smoke filled gambling hall and the cigarette smoke flows freely into the restaurant. We asked to be seated as far away from the smoke as possible and were directed to a table right near the entryway (and thus in direct flow of the nasty smelling air). We should have left and eaten somewhere else because our waitress was also annoyed that we were there. We left her a tip begrudgingly. The manager of the restaurant creepily offered to bring me breakfast in my room in the a.m. Needless to say we will not return to this...
Read moreI wrote this before. The rooms are sub par. Noisy AC!!! No extra blankets, or pillows and no way to contact front desk from their phone. I will never stay there again. Every room has Wifi. Who cares. TV a small flat screen barely larger than the computer screen I work on when I'm doing my research work. Overall a terrible place to stay. Not honest and quoted my room price including taxes and other charges. However charged me $50 more than stated when I checked in, and charged an illegal fees on top of that. Not a place that I would ever stay at again. Stayed there many years ago in a room across the street far better then. Use to have a gift shop, and a great dinning room with great prime rib dinner. They remodeled the the main floor of their casino and removed that restaurant and gift shop. They have absolutely nothing to offer. Unless you just want to gamble and drink. Have zero idea if they have good alcohol. I doubt it. No open eatery, no room service, no kitchen and they only have a grill Cafe when it's open. However rarely open so I can not comment on their food. You must go somewhere else for food. I recommend the Rose Cafe in a different hotel. The best food there ever. Outstanding service there and an amazing chef. I'm an amazing chef myself and next to my own cooking The Rose Cafe is far better than any restaurant I have eaten in, in over 16 years!!!! I would not eat at the Winner Inn nor would I ever stay there again. Not for a million dollars. It's a major disappointment. Walls cracking and not repaired. Substandard. Best I can say about it this establishment. Great workers especially the maids service. They work hard to keep the rooms clean. Cudos to them. That's all. They probably deserve to be paid more for their...
Read moreThis place is pet friendly per booking sites on the internet, and I confirmed this by calling the hotel directly before arriving and before booking via Expedia.
Thank God I didn't pre book via Expedia at the listed rate of $125 because this hotel would not honor the booking. I heard every excuse in the book, such as she didn't know how to process the transaction. The same gal told me that Expedia "messes" with them, and she also told me she didn't have a King bed, dog friendly room at the $125 rate as was advertised.
She finally said she can sell it to me for $134. but it would not be a "Superior" room as is advertised per the photo I provided on this review
I am not going to pay her $9 more just because this hotel will not honor what is advertised on the Expedia site.
Also, I had to pull up the add on my cell phone several times because I was told by her and the gal prior to her shift change that it needed to say dog friendly. I proved to both of them, on how I selected pet friendly in Expedia's filter so then the deal was no longer in question. She came then up with more excuses.
Also, this same gal left me standing at the counter so long that the manager came over at least twice and hollered at her to help me.
She was unwilling to provide me a dog friendly room should I have booked it online via Expedia. Instead, She wanted to sell me a room herself to eliminate Expedia. Unprofessional!
Needless to say, I told her I needed to speak to my husband, and I kindly thanked her and left. Ugh!
I should have blown past her and spoken to the manager. I trust he would have taken care of me.
Not happy with how much of my time was wasted dealing with the check in desk to...
