I was pretty disappointed as a truck driver that doesn't get alot of opportunities to sit down for a good meal. I ordered the Smokehouse platter with ribs, sausage and pulled pork. It came with beans and garlic toast and 2 sides. I got fries and coleslaw. The platter was $21.00 and with drink and tax the bill was a little over $25.00. I don't mind the price if I'm getting a meal worthy of it. I, at that price and it being a BBQ establishment expect ribs that are tender, juicy and pretty much fall off the bone. These were dry, tough, no BBQ smoke flavor and I had to naw them off the bone. The hot link sausage was 1 small shriveled up link that was hard, tough and very dry with little flavor and a touch of heat. The pulled pork was tender and juicy, but had no smokey BBQ flavor. It reminded me of pork I do in a crockpot when I don't have time to do it right on a grill. The beans were a red bean with some pork in them and they weren't to bad, but I prefer an original style BBQ beans. The coleslaw I didn't care for as it had a taste to it I couldn't put my finger on and had never tasted in a coleslaw before. They give you a huge amount of fries, but sadly when I picked them up the grease was literally dripping off them and I couldn't even eat them. I realize I'm in Nevada and it's not known for BBQ, but if you're going to open a BBQ joint, how about at least attempting to have some resemblance to authentic BBQ. I'll stick with Texas, St. Louis and the southeast for BBQ from here on out, where they actually...
Read moreUnfortunately, this was the worst bbq I have ever tasted in my life!
I wasn’t going to leave a review but after I left that night 12/14/23, I got some kind of food poisoning. 3 am run to the bathroom, 7 am run to the bathroom, and 5 more times during the next day. My stomach was hurting all day long and I was driving all day, back towards Portland so it was a miserable night and drive back.
The chicken and the ribs that I got were so dry that I could barely eat them. Even the leg and thigh. The driest meat I have ever tasted.
The seasoning on the meat is not my preference but that’s just a personal preference. Personally I prefer alittle more salt and less sugar in my rubs. It was sweet and bitter at the same time. I had to smother the meat with bbq sauce. I hadn’t eaten anything that day so I was hungry. Now I wish I would have left it there and left but I hate wasting food even at my healths expense.
I’m not sure if it was the meat or the Cole slaw that made me sick. I’m assuming the slaw was not kept at the right temp and the meat must have been sitting under a heat lamp for hours. Didn’t eat much of the beans.
The service was good and friendly but if you don’t have good food, then I don’t know what you have.
12/18/23 - I am still sick from this food. I can’t eat anything without having to run to the bathroom after. I’m so upset with this restaurant right now. If anyone else ate here on 12/14, please leave a review and tell if you got sick because this...
Read moreWe were in Winnemucca for just 1 night and spotted The Pig BBQ after checking into our hotel. We were hoping to get some good ribs and wings. We had no idea that they would close as early as 9:00, it was barely dark outside. After we were seated I overhead one of the waitresses speaking to 4 guys who had just walked in. She said something about the kitchen and they left. There was another lady passing by and I asked her if the kitchen was still open. She didn't know and asked the man behind the bar. He said "Yes". Unfortunately for us, we were seated in the other woman's area. She had an attitude!! She came to our table grumbling that the kitchen was supposed to close at 9. I asked about the wings, if they had Buffalo sauce. Very unpleasantly she said "No, we make our own sauce". I asked how the flavor compared. She picked up a bottle and slammed it on the table and said "Here". Confronted with this attitude we decided to order something quick and get out. We ordered the peach cobbler. Mistake. This was, without a doubt, the worst peach cobbler we've ever had. While we were sitting there, our waitress turned away 2 more couples, telling them the kitchen was closed. I gave this place 2 stars only because the man behind the bar was willing to accommodate...
