I WRITE THIS REVIEW IN PAIN, BUT I KNOW ITS MY FAULT!!!! 30 minutes, one half hour, 1,800 seconds, this is the lengths me and my family trekked across the Cape to reach this establishment. Some say that this is a large amount of time, but I wouldnât have chose to spend it any other way. I ordered a waffle cone dipped in the âfinestâ chocolate on the island. I pondered, but ended up pairing this with peanut butter Oreo and pistachio ice cream and side toppings of marshmallow and salted caramel. Let me start here: BEST PISTACHIO ICE CREAM IN MASSACHUSETTS perhaps north of the equator. I say this with confidence because of my pistachio backstory which I will briefly describe this will be in parenthesis feel free to skip it if you donât find it relevant. (As a child there wasnât much that made me happy. I didn't get along with kids at my school and was bullied for being fat. I was often called a Sumo and kids laughed at me during recess. They vigilantly watched and shouted, âSumoâs going down the slide guys hopefully it doesnât break againâ or âOMG Sumo is gonna try the monkey bars.â I would cry alone in the shower longing for something to fulfill my emptiness. Until one day my friend Carlos Corsuevas brought me an assortment of gourmet nuts from a local grocer. I remember trying the pistachio for the first time. I cracked the shell and popped it in my mouth. Immediately, I fell to the floor and first began laughing then suddenly tears like cataracts drained from my eyes. I whispered to Carlos in a somber, yet rejoiced tone âFinally, I have something to live for.â Everything finally made sense and I connected with this nut in a way that truly shouldnât be possible. The thick outer-shell of the pistachio reminded me of the hard shell I had to maintain around the bullies at school. Yet, inside that hard exoskeleton was this rich, flavorful, exotic individual who was me at my core. After this experience I lost 60 pounds from a pure pistachio diet. I began traveling state to state trying locally sourced pistachios, and other Michelin star pistachio inspired dishes, Pistachio ice cream has always been one of my favorites treats, and Iâve tried over 983 different homemade pistachio ice creams to this day. In my hometown, instead of Sumo, Iâm now known as the Pistachio Popper Aka The Pistachio Guru.) The peanut butter Oreo was prodigious as-well. I wouldâve given 5 stars, but the chocolate coated tip of the waffle cone was sadly stale. The salted caramel also left me in great discomfort- a better label for this topping would be Salt with Carmel. It was as if they took caramel melted it and dipped it in the nearby Atlantic. After eating the Salt with caramel my body felt encapsulated by a nauseating sensation- one might describe it as extreme vertigo. I probably shouldâve stopped eating it, but I couldnât I was addicted as if the substance was laced with nicotine. I realize this torment was caused by my own lack of self control, so I will not blame the establishment. This is leagues or better yet worlds above the Cape Cod Creamery. Although Penguinâs whipped cream is not âhomemadeâ it still functions as whipped cream unlike Cape Cod Creameryâs âButter-stickâ whipped cream. Strong...
Read moreDISAPPOINTING! We live down the street and used to come all the time. Last summer we finally got tired of getting the wrong order served to us, every time. Weâre talking 2 orders of 2 different flavors, nothing complicated. Instead of writing them down; the staff just pretended they had it under control. We got tired of this so we started going to Cape Cod Creamery, which consistently served the correct orders, and big scoops for the price. Tonight, we decided to come back here to give it a try again, big mistake. The portions were tiny and the price went up, we always order the same thing so itâs noticeable. Also the ice cream had big chunks of ice like freezer burn in it. Lastly Iâll mention that the entire time we waited in line we watched a guy not in uniform walk out every 3 mins to bring his friends massive, overflowing servings of ice cream. They seemed to be a group of foreigners that all worked at the water park or somewhere nearby as they were all wearing matching staff shirts. Just overall a disappointing experience especially the quality/quantity and price and we wonât be back. Cape cod creamery...
Read moreI really wanted to like this place, but my experience was pretty disappointing. The line was super long, which I wouldnât have minded if things were moving â but the staff seemed really unorganized and slow. It felt like no one was really in charge or trained properly.
The ice cream itself was a letdown. Some of the flavors tasted freezer burnt. At one point, they handed me a pint with a spoon already stuck in it, which just felt careless and unprofessional.
What really concerned me, though, was the lack of cleanliness. I saw staff touching cones with bare hands and even wiping their faces while handling food, which didnât feel sanitary at all.
This place has potential, but it really needs better management, cleaner practices, and more attention to detail. I hope they can turn it around, but for now, I wouldnât go out of my...
