My fault for not reading all the reviews and comments of all travellers. I missed the 2 TERRIBLE reviews - and very unfortunate that the same thing happened to my family just this July 14-18. Yeah I just came back and really eager to post my whole horrible experience with this manager JOHN.||||We booked 2 JUNIOR SUITE - BALCONY at this hotel. But upon arrival, they gave us only 2 DELUXE ROOMS - No windows. We arrived on a red eye flight and had a Halong Bay tour the next morning so I accepted the Deluxe Rooms as they promised to give us the correct rooms the following morning. When we arrived back in the evening, they have not changed our rooms still. That's the time I kept arguing with the manager JOHN. And to my very surprised, he is NOT APOLOGETIC at all. ||||I was travelling with my parents, and my grandmother - all of them senior citizens already. I specifically chose the Suite with Balcony as I wanted them to have a very good hotel room as my mom hate rooms without windows. ||||After much talking and arguing, the manager told me to find a way to get us the correct rooms the next morning. To my dismay, he only gave 1 room with balcony. And told me if "IT WILL MAKE ME HAPPY" - he'll send me to another hotel. WTF!!!||||WORSE, he doesn't want me to keep the room with balcony until we check out. I extended 1 room one more night as we have a red eye flight back to our country, so we can still have 1 more room until the evening we depart from Hanoi. He doesn't want to extend that room. He wants my parents to vacate the room and just moved to our filthy deluxe room.||||At that point, my whole energy was drained already. I don't want my health to suffer. I don't want to ruin my family's vacation and just accepted the fact - I will not get the room I booked, I paid, and I was looking forward to stay the night into.||||For your info, the Deluxe Room we stayed at 503. The air-conditioning does not cool enough. It's very cramped. And the door at the bathroom is hard to lock and open. My grandmother got locked inside, and they did not have any spare key to open it. Took a lot of praying and determination from my grand ma to get out of the toilet. ||||I was talking to the manager via WhatsAPP the whole time and got every conversation of his deceit and lies recorded. When I told him I'm gonna give a formal complaint at Expedia and a bad review at Trip Advisor. He met us the following morning and gave us a box of coffee and 500,000 VND as refund. My grand mother didn't know what was happening, she thought the money was given by a kind manager. My stress and refund is not worth just a box of coffee and your 500,000 VND!!!||||That gesture doesn't make things right. How can be the next guests be assured that they will be given the room they liked, the room they paid for? ||||Are they selling the rooms way higher to walk in guests??? My bad experience with this hotel is not the first time they did all these things. This is a NOTHING BUT A SCAM. Expedia, Booking.com and other online booking sites needs to remove their affiliation...
Read moreMy girlfriend and I recently stayed at the Galliot for 5 nights during our trip to Hanoi. To be fair our room was clean and well presented but other aspects of our stay left a lot to be desired. ||Firstly, the staff. Throughout our stay we found certain members of the staff to be deceitful. They advertise day trips on the board in the lobby and speak about how it is such a great price. Naturally enough, we took their word for it and booked a day trip to Halong Bay. The day trip itself was fine and the programme for the day was as expected. However it was not a 'great price'. A few doors down at a local travel agent, the same trip was 15usd cheaper PP. So not much of a great deal. From then on we booked our trips away from the hotel. As they were way above the going rate in other places. ||Also, when we looked to book an airport transfer we were quoted a price. When I questioned the price, it magically got a third cheaper as it was a 'special price for me'. Why try and charge more if you can offer less? I just found this very deceitful and it left a sour taste. ||On the day our check out there was a huge mix up too. Some of which I take some blame, but the whole situation could have been avoided if it hadn't been for such poor front of house skills. When we checked out we returned our key cards etc. We then got into our taxi and left. 10mins later we recieved an aggressive phone call from the hotel saying we had not paid for our stay. (This is where I take part of the blame) Our stay was booked through booking.com and in the small print it stated that the hotel handled all payments. This varies from place to place and we presumed once we checked out all was settled. ||Was it not the responsibility of the front desk to check all this before allowing us to leave in a taxi? All in all this meant we had to turn our taxi around and return to the hotel to make the payment. Costing us over 30mins with traffic etc. When we reached the hotel, I expressed my anger at having to return and why this wasnt all checked when we were checking out? The response I got from who I assume was the manager was disgusting. He simply laughed in my face and said I wouldn't be late for my flight. No apology, no explaining what happened. Just a real smug answer. |All in all, good location but poor staff and overall poor experience. I wouldn't recommend to friends...
Read moreWe arrived from Phu Ly to this little gem within the busy side street of Au Trieu. A wedding was set up and ready to go in the lobby of our hotel which made for a nice experience.||||Greeted by our host (Thui ??? Spelling) we were welcomed and accommodated rapidly given we had arrived a few hours early. This service and hospitality continued for the entirety of our stay giving this place a five star for service.||||The room was spacious and the balcony overlooking the street was just the icing to a great little one night stay. For basic accommodation (ie no pool etc.) this was a little bit of comfort for the traveller with big full size comfortable beds and en-suite that was modern and clean.||||Breakfast was delicious, we had the Pho (provided by the local next door) with the kids enjoying the pancakes for a change.||||This is close to everything, with the Pasteur street brewing company in amongst the traditional shops and food places all within 5 mins walking. It’s very comfortable and convenient so if you’re looking for an in town stay consider the Galliot...
