The RunningMan @ The Running Bean. . The Running Bean is a casual modern cafe known for its great coffee, quirky relaxing ambience, and contemporary Vietnamese food. . I stumbled upon The Running Bean while exploring the Old Quarter of Hanoi, and because their name had immediate resonance, I stopped to visit. . Ambience at The Running Bean is true to their theme, combining the past with the future. The facade retains the monolithic arches and well-worn brick walls. Within, industrial steel beams prop up blue glass panels, meant to evoke a 'frozen' look. . The warmly lit place is contrasted by natural light, illuminating the bare concrete floor, exposed brick walls, and modern furniture of regular height. There's 3 levels of seating. . Service at The Running Bean is young, energetic, and friendly. The relatively young staff can converse in English, and the menu has helpful English translations paired with pictures. . Staff take orders quickly, which are fulfilled after a short wait of no more than 10 minutes. I note they demonstate good menu knowledge, and also clean up quickly when diners are finished. I do wish they'd more proactively top up water glasses though. . Food at The Running Bean is contemporary modern Vietnamese cuisine, think traditional dishes but given a twist. Quality of dishes is passable. Prepared to order, staff will guide you in how best to consume each dish when they serve it. . Portions are sized for individuals, but can be shared. Prices are higher than other Vietnamese cafes though, budget about VND ₫370,000 / SGD $21 per person for a meal with...
Read moreThe Running Bean is a cozy spot for coffee lovers. If you are looking for a place to enjoy a cup of coffee and relax, you might want to check out The Running Bean. The cafe offers a variety of coffee based drinks, from the classic espresso and cappuccino, to the more adventurous ones like The Cloud and the Egg Coffee.
The Cloud appears to be a signature drink of the cafe consisting of a layer of Earl Grey foam on top of Cold Brew coffee, creating a contrast of textures and flavors. The Egg Coffee is a traditional Vietnamese drink, which blends egg yolk, condensed milk, and coffee, resulting in a rich and creamy beverage. The coffee based drinks are delicious and well-made, with the right balance of sweetness and bitterness.
The interior decor of the cafe is modern, clean, and cozy. The exposed bricks and roof rafters add a touch of rustic charm to the space, while the large windows let in natural light and offer a view of the street. The cafe has 3 floors of seating where you can sit comfortably and enjoy your drink.
The only downside of the cafe is the staff, who are less than enthusiastic about their job. Most of them look bored and disinterested, and do not interact much with the customers. They also seem to be slow and inefficient.
Overall, The Running Bean is a nice place to visit if you are a coffee lover, and want to try some unique and tasty drinks. The cafe has a pleasant atmosphere and a good location, but the service could be improved. I would rate it 4...
Read moreDrinks and food isn't good enough. We are 4 people coming for coffee and dessert. All the drinks has their own problems. I drank egg coffee. Coffee tasted clearly sour like arabica coffee, didn't taste like traditional Robusta Vietnamese coffee. So the combination of egg whisked and coffee didn't match and I can sense a strong egg york smell. Other drinks tasted too sweet. Especially the ube coconut coffee, too much ube, not much flavor of coconut. Pain au chocolat was dry, plain, no taste of butter, which I think this is a failure in the recipe. This is a famous dessert of France, if you can't keep it well known texture then change its name to something else, in my opinion. Plus, the chocolate should be a little running or soft before serve. I suspected the cake was just pulled out of the fridge and put on our table. As well as for the tiramisu, the moisture isn't fairly preserved for this signature Italian dessert either. Coffee flavor should be stronger and the liquor flavor supposed to be subtle instead. We all quite sure that there is no mascarpone cheese used in this Italian favourite dessert.. I am personally dissapointed in the way the drinks and the food prepared. The presentation is cool but that's barely save my experience. I hope with my review today, would help you to have a carefully look in your product and...
