I first visited in the evening about a week ago and having not eaten since breakfast time thought it best to line my stomach.. of the 2 vegetarian snacks on offer that were not 🍟(others had sold out) I ordered the fried okra but asked that the buttermilk dressing be changed to the tomato dressing from a different fried snack.. the waiter looked at me with trepidation in his eyes and told me he would ask if that was possible.. he came back and started to tell me about kitchen costings, etc... and went on to add that the kitchen only makes enough sauce for each portion of each dish... What I heard was costings are more important than customer care... I cancelled my order and went to Peachy Bar instead.. I returned to Hanoi today, and as the weather isn't great and already having eaten lunch, I dropped in for some beers. As a big fan of the Saigon branch (who did change the dipping sauce when I visited) I thought it would be trivial of me to miss out on some quality beers because of a dipping sauce.. ordering my second beer I found that because it had turned 3pm I could get a free bar snack with each 105000 vd beer.. or so I thought.. after sampling a few beers for my last beer I wanted to try the El Vietnamo a spicy stout.. I ordered this with the free PSBC chips but was told I could only have the chips with the medium sized beer.. this made no sense as according to the menu that meant they would be giving me a 200000 vd beer for 105000 vd plus free chips.. I pointed out this error and was then told the free chips only come with medium sized beers under 10 ABV. Not what the menu says. I pointed this out to the waitress and could see she'd had to go through this same charade a hundred times before. She told me she would ask the manager. Lo and behold she brought me my 105000 vd serving of the beer (as with most things advertised as spicy in Vietnam it was not- although a nicely flavoured stout) and she also placed down a bowl of chips which she had been told to insist were free with compliments of the manager (unlike the previous 3 bowls which were free with the beer). The waitress was also made to reiterate that the offer only applies to medium sized servings of beer.. despite that not being on the menu. To the manager I would like to ask you to stop putting your staff in the position of apologising for bad management decisions.. your beer menu includes a disclaimer about beers over 10% ABV costing more on the flight of beers so add the same disclaimer to your laminated food menu. I know costings are an issue for you but I won't be ordering any more beers or returning with my friends this evening (we'll go to Peachy Bar and drink Furbrew beers instead)! Serving staff are great and don't deserve to have to work for a manager who puts them in the firing line. Did not like the So It Gose~ seemed flat. Jasmine IPA was good as always and also enjoyed the Passion...
Read morePasteur Street Brewing in Hanoi was a delightful experience, and Anna, our waitress, was nothing short of fantastic. Her service was truly exceptional and perhaps one of the best we've encountered during our time in Vietnam. Anna's infectious smile added an extra layer of warmth to her impeccable service. Thank you, Anna!
Now, on to the food. My wife opted for the beef soft tacos, which proved to be a fantastic choice for those looking for a quick and satisfying meal. However, she did express a wish that Pasteur Street Brewing would consider offering sparkling wine or prosecco to complement their amazing beer selection. This seems to be a common trend across Vietnam, and given the tropical climate, it could be a brilliant addition.
Speaking of beer, I can't find a single fault when it comes to Pasteur Street Brewing's brews. Their selection was truly awesome, and the opportunity to savor such high-quality craft beer in Southeast Asia is indeed a privilege.
As a bonus tip, if you visit Pasteur Street Brewing, take a short 10-minute walk to see train street, an intriguing local attraction that's worth exploring.
In summary, Pasteur Street Brewing in Hanoi is a must-visit for anyone who appreciates great beer and warm service.
Cheers to good times and...
Read moreGeared towards Westerners so I must be a typical one because I loved this place. Young, friendly staff that was willing to talk with me extensively about where they were from (mostly Hanoi locals) and answer any Vietnam questions I had.
Excellent craft beer - even the high percentage beers are really smooth and drinkable. My favorite was the Saigon Saison. They have plenty of options for lighter beer drinkers too (kolsch, sours).
If you order a full pour beer, they give you a free app of pickles or beer chips. Full lunch menu with dishes you would order even if it was a regular restaurant rather than a brewery. Green, clean rooftop deck.
The music was incredible. I heard "Future People" by Alabama Shakes and "Dirty Work" by Steely Dan among other great songs. Can't say enough about this place; my wife and I went every day that we...
