In one sentence, if it is not for the reception staff, Ms. Jenny, I will not endure my 9 days stay at this hotel.
The Staff - Ms. Jenny is a very helpful, jovial, sincere, and passionate staff that is a great asset to any employers. It would be the biggest business bad decision if this hotel does not treat Ms. Jenny well in terms of welfare, salary, and other benefits. Other than Ms. Jenny, the other staff is just so so, with one works with an attitude.
Bed - The bed looks firm, but after 9 days, I developed back ache.
Refrigerator - this refrigerator works well, and it keeps all our snacks and drinks cold
TV - It's android TV, so you can actually watch YouTube and any other apps if you have your own subscription. They do have cable TV, too, like Classic Hollywood, HBO, AXN, News channels, etc.
Wifi - it was good (not super fast but good enough) to watch or stream via Android TV for the first part of our stay. The last 3 days, it totally just has no signal at all, rendering the Android TV useless if you are streaming.
Bathroom - very dated, old, and somewhat, my 1st impression was to check out, if not for Ms Jenny giving us a very good impression. The taps and plumbing full of stains and probably rust from chrome plating peeling off. Uses the individual tank heater and not central heating. One must remember to switch on the heating tank for at least 20 minutes to 30 minutes to have a good uninterrupted shower. If the first person takes too long to shower, then the 2nd may not have hot water anymore and will have to wait a while before one can shower.
Breakfast - the buffet spread is extremely small, but they do change the menu 2 to 3 times a week. However, on my first breakfast trying out the buffet spread, I found hair in the food. That puts me off, and I didn't take from the buffet again, accept on the last day, when they serve fermented pork fried spring roll. That also after I scrutinize each piece for any alien particles ha ha. Having said all that about the buffet spread, luckily, they do serve Ala carte breakfast, which was included in the breakfast. They serve upon order, vietnamese ala carte like pho bo/ga and bun rieu cua. As for western ala carte, they serve upon order sunnyside, poached eggs, half/hard boil eggs, Denver/Vegetarian Omelette, and scrambled. They also serve French toast, banana pancake, banana crepes.
Location - very good location as it is near to every where. It is located within an alley of restaurants and pop-up street food, and within3 mins walk to great coffee joint like Cong Caphe and the Gothic beauty St Joseph Cathedral.
Price - we got a good price, but then again even at this price, they should maintain proper facilities. For example, the kettle they provide do gives off sediments which changes the taste of bottled water being boiled in it.
If we were to return to Veris Hotel, it will be because of Ms Jenny. Our suggestion for Veris Hotel management, pls look into the flaws we have highlighted and some are easily solved.
Example, water as the most basic requirement of each guest....install mineral dispenser (cold and hot) on each floor or even just at the reception and you can do away with your...
Read moreI made a reservation for two days. But strangely, the entire amount can't be paid, and only a part of the amount (about 75%) can be paid, and the remaining amount (about 25%) is notified by the app to arrive at the hotel and pay. (Agoda app)
So it was weird, but I just completed the reservation.
I've arrived at the hotel.
I told the hotel's front desk staff that I booked two days.
However, the employee says that the reservation is two days, but the payment is only one day.
And with the remaining amount to be paid, they can't make a reservation for the remaining 1 day.
He said it's impossible because the amount is small.
I felt bad and embarrassed, but I didn't want to argue from the first day of arrival in Hanoi, so I decided to just cancel the remaining 1 day and stay for only 1 day.
Eventually, it became a case of paying only one day at a high price.
In principle, if I paid the remaining amount normally, it would have been a normal two-day stay...
The hotel staff made an excuse that it was a mistake in the app.
However, their provision of the hotel's reservation information to Agoda means that they already accept such a payment system.
And they didn't guide the details of the booking, and they put that process on Agoda for the customer to proceed.
If they didn't know, it's work neglect.
If they knew, it was a scam. =Maybe this is the case.
Maybe they're using this "devastating trick" on customers who stay for days.
Only a portion of the total payment amount for a few days' stay is set to be paid when the customer visits the hotel. When the customer visits the hotel, he refuses to accept accommodation because the remaining amount to pay is too small. In conclusion, the customer stays for only one day at a high price with most of the amount paid first.
So the customer doesn't want to stay more than the amount they booked, so they'll cancel the rest of the stay.
In the end, the customer stays 'just for one day' with a high amount already paid.
There is a hotel nearby where you can stay for a day cheaper, but the customer chose this hotel because they can do it for two days cheaper.
"Thanks to the cheapness of the hotel," I stayed on the first day of Hanoi for a few percent more than I had expected.
the condition of a hotel #It was wet and wet #Hole there because there's no electric switch button. (I guess they're lazy at safety, too.) #The floor was full of dust (they seem to be lazy with hygiene too) #Slippers already smell like feet from moisture before I even put them on.. #Worst of all, the hot water cuts off in the shower. It's because the water tank is low on capacity. You need to take a very fine stream of water in the shower. #A huge black dog is sleeping at the entrance of the hotel. (with a muzzle to prevent...
Read moreIf you're considering booking at Veris Hotel, think twice. Our experience was ruined by misleading room quality, poor communication, and subpar service, making it a stay to avoid.
Upon arrival at 4 am due to a delayed bus, which we had informed the hotel about in advance, we found ourselves knocking on a glass window to wake a sleeping staff member. After check-in, we were unexpectedly led to a separate building, '22Land Residence', about 20 meters away. This building, unbeknownst to us, had recently been acquired by Veris Hotel.
The room we were given did not match the quality promised by the pictures on Agoda or the reviews of Veris Hotel. Exhausted from travel, we didn't protest that night. The next morning, I discussed the issue with the manager, who spoke English well but seemed eager to end the conversation quickly. She insisted we were in a "premium" room, despite the room's condition and the discrepancy with the photos on Agoda. When I requested a refund, I was told refunds were not offered.
For our second night, we were moved to the actual Veris Hotel building. While the room there was excellent, the initial experience and the hotel's handling of the situation left a sour taste, overshadowing any positive aspects.
Veris Hotel's approach to customer service and room allocation is deeply flawed. If you value transparency, quality, and good customer service, I strongly advise choosing...
