During my photo tour of Vietnam, I had the opportunity to stay twice at the Golden Silk Boutique Hotel in Hanoi. Situated on Hang Gai Street, also known as the "Silk Street" of Hanoi, the hotel is ideally located near many places of interest. This vibrant street is lined with shops selling exquisite silk products, making it a quintessential part of Hanoi's charm. The hotel itself is on a busy main road, and crossing the street can be quite an adventure for those unfamiliar with the local traffic, where motorcycles and cars weave through seemingly chaotic flows. However, once inside, the Golden Silk Boutique Hotel is a sanctuary. The lobby is beautifully decorated, and the Rendezvous Piano Bar is equally stunning, offering a cozy spot to relax after a day of exploring. I stayed in a Deluxe Double room on both occasions. The hotel restaurant impressed me with its attentive service, especially from Chi, who was always helpful and pleasant. The food was excellent, and the free breakfast buffet served on the top floor with views of the city was a delightful way to start each day. Overall, the Golden Silk Boutique Hotel offers a wonderful blend of convenience, comfort, and charm, making it an excellent choice for travelers looking to experience the...
Read moreThe rooms are small, and while they claim to be able to accommodate three people in a room, there is no space to manoeuvre once they move a third bed in. The buffet is middling- nothing to write home about. They have a couple of polite and helpful people on the front desk, but if you have to deal with the receptionist called Loan then congratulations- you’ve managed to meet the rudest person in hospitality. They will lose your things, claim to never have seen them, be rude to you about it; and then when you make official complaints and leave detailed reviews, write back claiming that the lost item that they had never seen and knew nothing about had magically surfaced in the most improbable of places after your departure.
Considering how rude Loan was even when we asked if our tour bus had arrived, as well as the number of reviewers from South Asia complaining in Agoda about bad service, I wonder if this is a thing with Golden Silk. Either way, there’s nothing to recommend about them beyond...
