Friendly and professional staff! The rooms don’t seem new new but the staff are very efficient with their services. Our room was located next to the street so we could hear the human and vehicle traffic from downstairs. However, the blackout curtains helped us have a comfortable rest! Do consider trying out this hotel as the location is very convenient. It’s close to local and more touristy eateries; shopping is also located fairly close. We hardly took vehicle transportations when we were there as most places that we were going to/ coming from are less than 20mins walk away. It helped that the weather was cooling (we visited in December). Thanks Lion Boutique for the comfortable 4 nights !
Here are some food places that we enjoyed that are walking distance from Lion Boutique:
Cha Ca Thang Long - 5mins walk (came here twice because it’s that good! Definitely a unique meal to Vietnam. We got the fried fish set which included noodles, and fish head soup. If you love/ are open to herbs and vegetables, you would love this!)
Maison Marou - 10mins walk (came here THRICE for their hot chocolate, if you want to get the cold version, do add on whip cream, otherwise it’ll taste a bit diluted with the ice. They have an upstairs seating area too that oversees the road; fairly limited seating area though. You may consider taking away your drink to have it on the go!)
Bun Cha Sinh Tu - 5mins walk (came here twice for their Bun Cha. If you’re looking for a clean and air-conditioned indoor place to eat, do consider coming here. They have a lot of seats and not crowded (at least the times we’ve been), so if you’re travelling with a big group, this place would definitely accommodate. We have tried other more local and humble Bun Cha places and this place could match up. Definitely slightly pricier than the side of the road stores, but worth it for the comfort. This place was recommended to us by a local tailor as his “favourite...
Read moreWe stayed here for a total of 3 nights on and off. I booked the family suite balcony room directly with the hotel.
Location - right in the center of old quarters (perfect location) can walk to just about everything (railroad street, night market, etc). Note, the street a quite narrow so may be hard for larger buses to go down one way.
Pro - nice clean extremely spacious rooms. Did I mention spacious. Ours had 2 queen beds, a sitting area, and balcony (rm 704). The beds were nice an firm but comfortable. The pillows were plentiful and soft. They even provided bottled water but in refillable glass bottles which was amazing. They provide new bottles each day. This was the only place I've stayed at that used recycled glass bottles instead of plastic.
Breakfast - on B1 level, Mr. Luong is the restaurant mgr. He was always there and very attentive. There was plenty of variety from local pho and porridge to American breakfast of fresh omelet or pan fried eggs. They offered a selection of fresh local fruits (dragon fruit, pineapples, etc). Decent compared to other hotels we stayed at around Vietnam.
Con - as of 6/2023, the Spa was terrible. We had booked a massage and it was just a really bad experience compared to others we've had in Vietnam. We complained to management and they were very attentive and wanted to resolve it. Hope it gets better.
At the time we were there, their rooftop bar was still under construction. Oh and remember, there is no gym.
Suggestions for local eats: Bun Bo Nam Bo - very close and really good at one dish specialty Bun Cha Dac Kim - I've been told this is better than the one...

Initially, I booked a deluxe twin room, non-smoking, with an internal window overlooking the corridor rather than the main road. Upon arrival, the attentive hotel personnel kindly changed my room to a deluxe queen-size bed upon my request, a gesture that was highly appreciated. The room was a haven of relaxation, equipped with all the necessary amenities one could wish for. One standout feature was the sandalwood bath gel, which added a touch of luxury to my stay. The mattress and pillows were exceptionally soft, ensuring I enjoyed a restful sleep throughout my vacation. The breakfast offered was a delightful fusion of Western and Vietnamese cuisine, catering to a wide range of palates.
