Maazi, an authentic Indian delights

Step into the vibrant culinary world of Hanoi's Old Quarter and discover Maazi, a hidden gem among the bustling streets. This Indian restaurant stands out as one of the most authentic and sought-after dining experiences in the city, attracting both locals and visitors alike. The carefully designed menu showcases a tantalizing array of traditional Indian dishes, curated to perfection.

During my stay in Hanoi, I couldn't resist the temptation of Maazi's delectable offerings and found myself returning not once, not twice, but thrice! The friendly and attentive Mr. Neeraj, the designated guardian of your table, ensured that my dining experience was nothing short of extraordinary. His genuine care and attention to detail made me feel like a valued guest, elevating my culinary journey at Maazi.

Among the highlights of the menu were the mouthwatering Bhindi Masala, the perfectly flaky Butter Roti, the tantalizing Chicken Tikka Naan, and the crispy Masala Papad. And to complement the incredible food, Maazi boasts an impressive drinks menu, offering refreshing beverages that perfectly complement the spices and flavors of the cuisine.

While I was eager to try the popular Vietnamese Egg Coffee, fate had other plans, as Maazi's staff was unavailable at the moment to prepare this signature Vietnamese delight. However, Mr. Neeraj's kindness and dedication to ensuring my happiness shone through. He offered to make it himself, though he humbly admitted it wouldn't be perfect. In an unexpected act of generosity, he even considered it complimentary, refusing to charge me for the experience.

As I bid farewell to Maazi, it's clear that this enchanting restaurant has left an indelible mark on my taste buds and heart. The Old Quarter area, where Maazi is located, proves to be a prime destination for both locals and tourists, with numerous hotels nearby. Rest assured, whenever you find yourself in Hanoi, Maazi will be my go-to spot, a sanctuary of authentic Indian cuisine in a...

I visited Maazi in Old Quarter recently and tried a variety of dishes. The experience was mixed.

We started with the samosa. It wasn’t the typical Indian-style samosa you might expect — the flavor and texture were different — but it was still decent if you just want a quick snack. Not something I’d go back for, but not terrible either. The highlight early on was the masala chai. It was well-balanced, fragrant, and genuinely enjoyable.

Things went downhill with the ghee dosa. The dosa itself was drenched in ghee or maybe another kind of oil, to the point where it was overwhelming. The filling — the aloo masala — had an unpleasant smell, almost like it had been roasted in bad oil. I couldn’t eat it, so I asked the staff to check. They were polite and brought me a fresh masala, which I appreciated, but the overall dish was still a disappointment. The sambar that came with it didn’t help much either — it was unusually sweet and lacked the authentic South Indian flavor I was expecting.

We also ordered the corn chaat. I assumed it would be made with fresh corn, but instead, it was deep fried. That made it heavier and not particularly fresh-tasting. It was edible, but definitely not what I had in mind.

Overall, I’d say Maazi is not the place for South Indian food. The ghee dosa and sambar really missed the mark. However, if you’re in the mood for North Indian main course dishes, this place might still be worth a try. The chai was good, and the staff did try to make things right when I raised an issue, so there’s effort on their side. Just set your expectations: stick with the Indian main course, but skip the South...

A Taste of India in the Heart of Vietnam!

Hanoi

Ho chi Minh

I recently had the pleasure of dining at [M A A Z I], and I must say, it's a MUST-VISIT for anyone craving authentic Indian cuisine in Vietnam!

From the moment we stepped in, the warm and welcoming ambiance set the tone for a fantastic dining experience. The decor was elegant, with intricate Indian-inspired patterns and vibrant colors that transported us to the streets of Mumbai.

But what truly stole the show was the food! Oh, the glorious food! Each dish was expertly crafted, with bold flavors and spices that danced on our taste buds. We ordered the Chicken Tikka Masala, Palak Paneer, and Garlic Naan, and every bite was a revelation.

The service was top-notch, with friendly and attentive staff who ensured our glasses were always full and our plates were never empty.

If you're an Indian food enthusiast like me, or just looking to try something new and exciting, [Restaurant Name] is an absolute must-visit in Vietnam. Don't miss out on this culinary gem!

Rating Breakdown:
