4-stars hotel is absolutely misleading. The room is oldish.
I booked a "Deluxe Double Room, Balcony" for 2 nights and I expected there must be some kinds of city views no matter which floor the room. However, I was assigned to Room 108 which the balcony is facing the wall of the nearby building (i.e. no any view at tall). Any room at a higher level with window will have a better view than it. That, what is the reason I have to choose for a room with balcony. The actual provision is totally different from the website photo. If the Hotel consider still it is a "Deluxe Double Room, Balcony", please specify clearly in the website. The Hotel was unable to change the room for me on the 1st day.
The neighbour had a bright lighting switching ON during night time only and facing the balcony. The curtain at the room was too thin and could not block the light.
The window at bathroom was obstructed by a screw (due to deformation of window OR poor installation workmanship) and hence could not be close normally. This is 1st floor. Stranger is able to climb into the premises through this window easily.
The worse was that there were cockcrow and dog barking at 5am at neighbour. As Room 108 is located above the kitchen of the Hotel, I could also hear the breakfast preparation sound and staff talking at 6am.
Besides, it was very odd that cleaning staff tidied up my room while I was having my breakfast (around 08:30am) which I did not expect there would be any hotel staff to enter my room during that period of time (my personal belonging not yet properly tidied up).
Finally, the Hotel helped to change to another room with balcony at higher level (though the view is only roof of the building) for my 2nd night. It was sad to hear that the Hotel realised the noise issue but still assign...
Read moreThis hotel is located in a very convenient location. Close to everything, and yet, away from the main madness of the Old Quarters. This is definitely not a Four Seasons level of hotel, but that doesn't mean that their staff can't provide the same level of service. Everyone was very polite and spoke decent English, which was very helpful. The ladies at the reception(Elsa, Molly, and Daisy), along with the porters and the breakfast server lady, were all espetacular! Specially the front desk ladies, whom we had the most interactions with, were all very responsive and helpful towards everything we needed help with. If you have a question, they'd have an answer for you :-D The thing that we appreciated the most was that they were not pushy about the tour packages. We've avoided all the hotels were guests mentioned about the pushy tour sales. They asked us once a day, in passing, for 2 days. And as soon as we told them that we had no plans and just want to walk around Hanoi, they left us alone. It was great! The breakfast was decent and worth the price. We ate well in the morning without having to go out and look for food ourselves. We would stay there again if and when we come back to this area. The room was a bit dated, as are most of the hotles in the Old Quarters it seemed from all the reviews we've read, before deciding to go with this one. Sure the linens and towels are not snow white, but they are definitely clean and work as they should. The bed and blankets were broken in, so everything was very comfortable. The important part is that the room was very clean!! The couch in the room, however, was not soft, so that was the only thing that was not great. Everything else was good and worth the...
Read moreI hate to have to write anything negative about our trip but this experience dampened what was one of the most awesome few days in the most charming and beautiful Hanoi. Honestly, the only thing Central Park Hotel really has going for it is its location, but for the price, I would recommend you spend a little more for your own health. When we arrived there was a power outage in the area and whilst I understand this is out of the hotel’s control, no effort in terms of lighting was done to even light the dark, long entranceway, stairs and reception area. The one staff we met was nice enough but after handing us the keys, interactions were kept to a minimal(possibly because of limited English) but no assistance or alternative options were offered regarding our luggage and walking up the dark spiral stairs to the 6th/top floor. The room was spacious and had good natural light but it only highlighted the peeling wall paper and where I really draw the line - moisture mould (black spots and water marks) all over the ceiling. This also made the room smell of the same. It really is not safe and acceptable to pay whatever amount only to be inhaling all of that mouldy air. While we were ready to walk out from that time, we really only booked this room for a safe place to store our bags for the 10 hours before our midnight flight. We didn’t want to be caught up in complaints and discussions with the one staff running the place, so we ended up maximising a spa afternoon and coming back only to gather our things and check out. Do yourself a favour, either pay a little more for a clean and safe place, or otherwise please check your room doesn’t have this mould before agreeing to your stay....
