The Golden Rooster Hotel is the best hotel in the entire Hanoi and perfect for any type of tourist. Its greatest points are many, such as: breakfast, location, the staff and the rooms. The breakfast is very abundant and full of delicious local and global food. There is a perfect buffet and you can also order for free many other dishes like crepes, scrambled, fried and boiled egg. The location is also together with the staff the best thing of the entire service. It is inside the Old City of the capital and very close to all of the best attractions in Hanoi, such as the famous Train Street, the Citadel of Thang Long, the Lake, the Cathedral and to the Night Market, which makes the Golden Rooster right at the center of Hanoi making it a very convenient destination. The Golden Rooster Hotel is also full of an amazing staff, which were all very kind and always available and did their best to satisfy our requests. Some of this staff excelled in our opinion and are: Hugo, Emma and Van. Hugo is a receptionist and was always very available and kind, in fact when we had asked to him one more towel, he himself brought it up to our room in no time. Emma, was everything that you would need from a receptionist: kind, available and giving always legit and perfect insight advice. We always relied on her on giving us the right short routes to visit the immense city. This was only a minor thing in comparison with the service that she gave us at the end of our stay. After a long tour by walk all across the city of Hanoi we were too sweaty and tired to depart on a long flight, so we asked her if we could take a shower. She promptly said “Of course!” and gave us a perfect place where to take a shower and gave us some towels and body wash. Van also excelled in his work as he helped us in carrying our luggage to our room and giving us amazing advice too. Finally another good point of the Golden Rooster Hotel are the rooms, which have everything you need for the best stay in your life at Hanoi. We have to thank you so much for the happiness and great experiences...

Read moreWe arrived early from a morning flight to the hotel. Was told that the room is not yet ready which is understandable. Provided us some hot tea and left our luggages for a quick brunch around.
We were promised by Lily that the room will be ready by noon, earlier than check in time and was pleased to know that the room is well lit and decorated. She even walked and showed us to our room which was something different.
Location wise: quite central though we did not fully explore the area as it was intended as a room to sleep in for all of the off-Hanoi tours we took.
Would estimate about 7-15 mins walk to Dong Xuan Market and Hoàn Kiem Lake.
At the end of stay, Lily was thoughtful to give us a handcrafted pouch with coffee candy and powder for our night bus travel.
They also offer to let you shower in their public toilet for free, just to pay the towel fees at 50k Dong.
The reason for 3 stars; 1 star because the buffet spread was very small selection among all the hotels I have stayed in Hanoi and the coffee was quite bland IMO 1 star because initially I wanted to pay forward when we checked in but was told to only pay at the end of stay. What I did not realise was that the process was not honest/clear enough to inform that their payment terms are only in USD, despite my booking payment black and white had already stated in VND or in my local currency. They have also not mentioned the additional 3% credit card charges if you were to pay by card.
This experience was new in my travel around South East Asia and I find this practise a little dishonest by not allowing us to have the liberty of option of currency payment. I have noticed that this could be a typical tactic practised in Hanoi as I was persuaded the same way in another hotel as well.
Perhaps a review on this could be looked into and allowing more transparency to hotel tenants in advance will enable an even better hotel experience at...
