We ordered Garlic Naan, Masala Kulcha, Paneer Butter Masala and Masala Papad. The person who took the order told us that both Garlic Naan and Masala Kulcha will be cut into 4 pieces but when the order came the Masala Kulcha looked too heavy and Garlic Naan was way too big & in single piece. He didn't even warn us that it will be too much for 2 people. Anyways, he was gracious enough to return one item and he chose to return Garlic Naan as the Masala Kulcha cannot be returned.
Taste wise, Masala Kulcha was okay-ish and the Paneer Butter Masala was not at all good. It seemed like paneer cubes were simply added to the gravy, which was not good either. They also had complimentary chutney and raita in one small plate. We tried to have the Masala Kulcha with green chutney and onion/tomato mixture of Masala Papad. We then tried Plain Dosa, which came with Sambar, Red chutney and coconut chutney. Both the chutney were not that great. But Plain Dosa and Sambar were good enough.
They also played some Indian music on the TV. They have a washroom too.
Overall, we felt the food was not that great. Maybe they have a speciality in Garlic Naan. Paneer Butter Masala was a complete no. Plain...
Read moreI have to share this beautiful experience at the Hill Top which happened to me an hour ago.
My wife and I were traveling to Cambodia and Vietnam, and we just arrived in Hanoi at 9pm today. I went to get some takeout at the Hill Top. I ordered our meal and to my extreme embarrassment I could not pay as they did not support Apple Pay (I left my wallet back at the hotel). I had all of $6 in my pocket and asked the good looking gentleman behind the counter to please cancel my order and to give me whatever I could get for $6.
What he did next truly humbled me - he gave me my complete original meal for just $6! I was so touched by his kind gesture to a complete stranger. This has already made the first few hours in Vietnam so positively magical. I wanted to come back and pay the full amount, but I think the universe wanted to teach me a lesson in humility. The meal was exceptionally delicious and I would rate the magnificent Hill Top as one of my best experiences ever. Thank you for your kindness. Love you guys - you are...
Read moreI would avoid this place even if you’re desperate for Indian food. We ordered butter chicken, another chicken curry (had eggs in it) Naan and vegetable pakora. The vegetable pakora was the only thing we could somewhat finish but everything else was just bland, greasy and heavy. I vomited 4 times after I arrived back to my hotel.
The one saving grace food wise was the naan, which was huge - perfect for sharing, and very nicely done. Yet the rice we ordered alongside our curries didn’t arrive for some time, and by the time we had been updated on it, the rest of the food had already taken away our appetites.
The staff were not rude by any means, but seemed standoffish and lingered very close by even when no dishes had arrived, which felt awkward.
Overall, would not recommend, unless seeking...
