I do not usually write online reviews for hotels but decided to do so for this exceptional hotel and its staff. Even before we arrived, the staff reached out to provide us information for airport transport and tour options and to make sure our arrival was as smooth and stress free as possible. Every detail of the hotel, from the door attendant welcoming you and wishing you well every time you enter and exit, to the beverage and light snacks they serve you while doing your check in makes the check in process relaxing. Lucas did our check in and I have to say he is by far the best hotel staff member I’ve had the pleasure to meet in the 33 countries I’ve traveled to. He was polite, friendly, and helpful in ensuring our check in was easy. He offered us some great options for local tours. I usually do not enjoy tours and prefer doing my own agenda but decided to give the motorbike food tour he recommended a try and I’m so glad I did. This was the best tour I’ve ever taken. It was fun, adventurous, and educational. I enjoyed it so much I booked a second one for the next night. Our hotel room was very spacious, clean, had plenty of amenities and was very well designed for function. The beds were comfortable, no bright sunlight waking us up in the morning. No external noises through the walls. The restrooms were clean, spacious, and also well designed for functionality. The breakfast that was included under our booking was amazing as well. Breads, cereals, yogurts, fruit, and savory options as well. By far one of the best breakfast buffets I’ve seen. The staff was all (and yes I mean every single staff member we interacted with every single day) was exceptional. Chloe helped us with our departure as well as extending the city tour my sister took (extended from a half day tour to a full day tour) while she was already on the tour itself. As I would enter a staff member would walk over to the elevator and press the button so it would be ready by the time I arrived at the elevator. This was some serious attention to detail and world class service. The staff also helped us print our E-tickets for our upcoming flights and provided some great eating options (they helped me find a store that sold local soaps which I like to buy in countries I visit). The hotel location is also a huge selling point. A few blocks from many landmarks and the entertainment district but on a street that’s not noisy or congested. Everything about the hotel, the staff, the service, the price, and the location is world class and second to none. We will definitely be visiting Hanoi again (beautiful city and well worth a visit) and we will definitely be staying at this...
Read moreThis hotel is astoundingly excellent, in every way. It was our first stop on a 2+ week trip through Vietnam & the location could not have been better. Set in the heart of the Old Quarter & yet it wasn't loud or chaotic, interestingly enough. We were at L'Hotel du Lac for Christmas & joined their Christmas Eve dinner, which was lovely. 4 courses & then there was live music & drinks in the rooftop bar after. They had 3 pre-set menus & none worked for us with some dietary preferences & the chefs created a special, salmon dish for us! The breakfast was EXCELLENT & contained local specialties like Bun Cha, which is unique to Hanoi. We also started each day with a Vietnamese coffee which was every bit as good (if not better) than what we found in nearby coffee shops. But here's where the hotel really stands out-- Chloe reached out to me a few weeks prior to arrival (via WhatsApp) & we stayed in regular communication leading up to our trip & she was always very responsive when I had questions or requests (such as the special menu for Christmas Eve dinner). She also provided terrific suggestions for our next stop (Hoi An) & when we returned home she texted me professional photos of our family that were taken during Christmas Eve dinner!! My son & I had spa treatments-- his first full body massage-- & they were great too. I honestly cannot say enough good things about this hotel. We all have those places we stay that live in our memories forever & L'Hotel du Lac will be one of those for our entire family. The Vietnamese hospitality is unlike any we've experienced anywhere else in the world. Thank you Chloe & the entire team for a truly...
Read moreWe stayed at L'Hotel du Lac twice on our recent Vietnam holiday; one stay of five nights, then another of three nights after an interlude in Sa Pa.||The hotel is perfectly located near the lake and the Cathedral, on the edge of the Old Quarter, but not in the busiest part. The street is interesting - there are many good shops, cafes, restaurants and bars nearby, including a Met restaurant (excellent) almost next door.||The staff really stood out for us, making a lovely experience really wonderful. Every staff member was kind, intelligent and friendly, always greeting us with smiles and seeming genuinely interested in what we were doing. We soon got used to having doors opened for us - a concept we are not used to! All the staff were lovely, but Jolie and Enzo were exceptionally good, as was the trainee (sorry, his name-tag said simply 'Trainee'), who chatted to us about Vietnamese history when we returned from one of the museums. In the breakfast restaurant, Alice, Bella and Michael stood out. Apologies to all the others who I haven't named - they were all kind and friendly.||We had two different rooms - a Junior Suite and a Premium Suite. The Premium Suite (Rm 902) was exceptional - spacious and well-equipped; if you can stretch to this one, the level of comfort is terrific.||The foyer is a stand-out too - sumptuous (if a bit over-the-top) decor - a beautiful place to return to from Hanoi's heat (considerable in September).||Last but not least the roof-top bar, Le Ciel. Sipping a cocktail in happy hour while watching a Hanoi sunset - treasure!||Highly...
