M Hotels in Saigon - Both this “M City Hotel” (near Ben Than Market) and the larger and nicer “M Hotel Saigon” (near the Opera House) are great, modern, stylish, clean and comfortable boutique hotels. What you should know: 1 - Good amenities for a small hotel. M City Hotel has a nice rooftop pool which is great for cooling off in a hot day. But don’t let the photos fool you, it’s tiny, and there’s only room for 5 guests total to sit by the pool. It also has a gym that is similarly small but well equipped also located on the top floor with a nice view. The restaurant serves a decent breakfast for a hotel its size with both western and asian choices. But note breakfast is served only 6-9:30 everyday. So if you’re a leisure / holiday traveler who likes to sleep in you may be out of luck, even on weekends.2 - BEWARE if you book the cheapest room. The least expensive rooms at M City hotel are TINY, and have no windows! They’re so small in fact you can not walk on both sides of a typical queen / double bed. I accidentally booked this room type initially and ended up paying a significant additional feel to upgrade to a room that would be considered standard size with a window (no balcony) in most other comparable (and comparably priced) hotels. While sitting in the lobby I heard multiple other guests working through the exact same scenario I experienced… some expressing more frustration than others at our predicament.3 - Noise at the hotel is both good and bad…despite being located on a busy street no street noise could be heard in my room. That said, noise carries through the room doors, so hope for respectful neighbors. The hotel is new (or newly renovated) and has nice marble floors in both the hallways and the rooms. While pretty, the stone reflects the sound well and children and even loud adult conversations from within other rooms on my floor could be heard in my room even with both room doors closed. 4 - The staff at M City Hotel earn a good but not great review, which was unexpected as the staff at my prior stay at M Hotel Saigon was outstanding. From the argumentative conversations front desk staff had with customers who didn’t realize just how small the “standard” windowless rooms are, to the dismissive almost annoyed “no” response I received when asking if my coffee could be put in a to-go cup as it took so long to be made I had finished my breakfast and had to run to an early morning flight before it arrived. Sometimes it’s the little things that define great service…Yet despite those caveats, I’d still return and recommend M City Hotel - especially if you’re looking for a modern clean boutique hotel in a...
Read moreBest service by far, compared to other hotels in other countries, even five star hotels. The staff are all very friendly and attentive, they're able to understand and speak some English.
We're especially impressed by the staff at the Level 1 breakfast buffet Mr Lucas Truong and Mr Thinh - throughout our stay, they were consistently pleasant and ever ready to offer assistance. Mr Lucas was so attentive, he noticed that we limited ourselves to certain dishes only and checked if the food is alright with us. When we told him we're vegetarians, he readily offered to get the kitchen to cook some vegetarian fried noodles for us (without alliums as requested). The noodles were tasty and satisfying. The Vietnamese coffee (ordered through Mr Thinh at the breakfast) was aromatic and better than the coffee at another cafe outside the hotel.
The staff at the reception and the door always greeted us whenever we walked by. The reception staff handled a very unreasonable man well - he was upset that he booked himself into the wrong hotel (M City Hotel instead of M Hotel) and blamed the staff when they were at no fault, yet the staff handled the unpleasant situation very professionally. Side note - IMPORTANT: M CITY HOTEL IS DIFFERENT FROM M HOTEL (Don't confuse the two).
The room was clean and cosy, with sufficient counter space and USB charging points. Hot water was readily available for showering and x2 bottles of 350ml Dasani water were topped up daily. The bed was comfortable and the air-conditioning was easily adjustable and quiet. Housekeeping was great, no prompting needed to make up our room.
Rooftop pool is small, but it's a nice infinity pool with a good view. The gym is open air with no air-conditioning.
Location-wise, we chose this hotel because it's near some good vegetarian cafes/restaurants. But I didn't like having to cross a large chaotic crossing junction each time we made our way back to the hotel. Nonetheless, I'd love to stay at this hotel again given the wonderful...
Read moreI recently stayed at the M City Hotel during my holiday, and I am writing to express my deep dissatisfaction with the overall experience. Despite the room costing approximately $65 per night, it did not provide the value I expected, as the hotel seems better suited for tourists or travelers who do not require personal transportation.
The hotel's lack of a parking lot was not clearly communicated on their website or in any other available information. When we arrived with a motorbike, the receptionist informed us that we would have to park it approximately 200 meters away from the hotel. This was particularly problematic when it rained heavily throughout the day, as we asked the staff if they could assist in moving and monitoring our bike, but they refused, citing a lack of available personnel.
The service I received at this 4-star hotel was the worst I have ever experienced. The staff displayed a complete lack of flexibility and an unfriendly attitude when we sought their assistance. Furthermore, when we requested to speak with a manager, we were told that the hotel did not have a designated contact, which is completely unacceptable.
Overall, this hotel stay was a terrible experience, and I would not recommend the M City Hotel to anyone. I expect a prompt response and resolution to...
