The concierge broke my luggage and didn't even inform me. I was shock when I came back to my room to see the badly broken luggage with the handles flapping open towards the back of the luggage, revealing the inner fabric.
I called up concierge to tell them there is some issue with the baggages and to send someone to come to the room.
Someone came to the room, but couldn't speak English, and the first thing he did was show me his phone with the message "is your luggage broken?" I said yes, then he went off again.
I called again later to find out what is going on and they told me they will go and investigate what happened. Was anxious the whole night wondering how i will handle my luggage the next few days. Where can I even get another luggage in Sapa? Waited the whole night without any reply from them. At 11.30pm I figured they won't be getting back to me and I should just turn in for the night and deal with it the next day.
Next morning, I went to the front desk to ask about my luggage. They directed me to Louise. He started showing me some images from the CCTV of my luggage, claiming that the luggage was already broken before I handed them the luggage.
I looked at the photo... At where his finger was pointing - a huge reflection on the luggage. I told him I don't see any crack, and that it is a reflection from the light. The blurred image shows the front of the luggage where you would never be able to see the crack - crack is on the back of the luggage. He insisted it's a crack no matter what logic I attempted to explained, even showing images of the crack. The gaslight was beyond believe, you think I wouldn't know that my luggage was cracked so badly?! With the fabric exposed? You can't even pull the luggage cause the handle is flapping around.
Then he goes on to zoom into the photo and exclaimed as if he got some insight "oh see it's green! Your luggage is green inside right? It's a crack"
For a split second, I was confused, did I really damage it and not know? I couldn't remember what colour was the inner fabric. Then I looked at my image and my fabric is blue! I showed him that and he now tells me the colour is not accurate on the camera...
At this stage I was fuming, and frustrated at the heavy gaslight by Louise. I really expected better service from a resort. Then my friend came by and supported me. Louise then asks us to follow him to the camera room so view better footages.
We went to the camera room where they started showing us the footages of the time we handed over the luggage, took quite a while. No cracks so far when I passed them the luggage! Then another view when a man pulls the luggage into the room. At this point he paused the video and showed me again a straight line reflection and said it's cracked... I had to show him the crack again, a C shaped crack at the handle...
Then comes the guy bringing my luggage out. We see him holding the handle and when he pulls, we see the luggage is broken. But the guy didn't seem to notice anything broke. I exclaimed that it was evidence! But Louise insisted that the image right before, the reflection, was the crack already...
At this point I was really tired and didn't see any outcome where Louise was going to take any sort of responsibility. I was tired of the gaslight and very dissapointed the resort can't even deal with such a small case. I later on found a luggage in Sapa costing only 500k Dong... They are so cheap they can't even compensate me that..
We wasted enough time and my friends were waiting really long for us, delaying our morning plans. So we agreed to let the resort attempt to repair my luggage.
One might think things couldn't get any worse.. It did. Over WhatsApp we communicated on the progress of the repair. I did some research and told them it will suffice with just duct tape, even drew for them how to tape it best. Then they showed me a photo of the my luggage, they attempted to superglue it and there were glue stains all over, but the no repair was done at all. And then they just told me they can't...
Read more“Sometimes you don’t need to go anywhere. Just staying still in the right place is enough to heal your soul.” That’s exactly how I felt after spending 2 days and 1 night at Cat Cat Hills Resort – a place not only blessed with stunning landscapes but also filled with warmth and genuine hospitality.
I’ve been to Sapa many times and stayed at a few different 4- and 5-star resorts, but honestly, no other place has left me feeling so relaxed, cared for, and truly “welcomed” like this one. It wasn’t about fancy services or luxury experiences – it was the small things: a warm cup of herbal tea upon arrival, the calm smile of a kind manager, a balcony that opens straight into a sea of clouds... and suddenly, the entire trip becomes unforgettable.
From the moment I arrived, I was struck by the natural beauty of the resort. It’s nestled on a quiet hill overlooking the famous Muong Hoa Valley, with terraced paths winding gently around the mountainside. Every view was open and vast, with mist weaving through rooftops and wooden decks. It felt like stepping into a peaceful little world of its own.
As I checked in, I was offered a warm welcome herbal tea – simple, but incredibly soothing after a long journey. That’s also when I met Mr. Louis Tín – the resort manager – and from that moment, I understood this trip would be different. His kindness and professionalism stood out right away. He didn’t just hand over a room key and move on. He took the time to walk us through the layout of the resort, asked about our preferences, offered recommendations for the best time to view the clouds, places to sit for sunset, and even helped us customize our schedule for a more relaxing stay.
Our room was a mountain-facing bungalow – warm, wooden, clean, and thoughtfully designed. The balcony was large and inviting, with a small table and chairs perfect for sipping tea while watching the clouds float by. The space felt private and calm, like a retreat just for us. I spent a long time just sitting there, breathing in the cool mountain air and doing absolutely nothing – and I loved every second of it.
During our stay, we didn’t even leave the resort – and we didn’t need to. Lunch was served at the resort’s restaurant with a selection of local dishes – delicious and well-presented. In the afternoon, we went down to the infinity pool – which turned out to be one of the most peaceful spots in Sapa. The view from the pool was open and breathtaking. After that, we visited the on-site café, perched on the hillside, where we enjoyed hot ginger tea and watched the sun set slowly behind the mountains. The music was soft, the air was crisp, and it felt like time had completely stopped.
When we returned to the room that evening, it had been quietly refreshed by housekeeping. Warm lighting, fresh towels, and a sense of quiet comfort welcomed us back. The next morning, since we needed to leave early, Mr. Louis personally arranged for breakfast to be delivered to our room – it arrived right on time, beautifully presented, and absolutely delicious. That one gesture alone showed just how attentive he was to our needs, even without us having to ask twice.
As we checked out, Mr. Louis came out to see us off personally. He thanked us for staying, wished us a safe journey, and genuinely hoped we’d return – and we will. Because while the views were incredible, it was the people that made this place truly special.
Cat Cat Hills Resort isn’t just a place to stay – it’s a place to slow down, to breathe, to be cared for without words. Thank you to everyone at the resort, and especially to Mr. Louis Tín, who made this short trip feel so full, so calm,...

However, there are few improvements required by the accommodation
Room assignment
I was really sad on the room assigned. I booked room with really great view from Agoda however I get a different view than the room I booked via agoda with reason we are 5 pax while the room allow to accommodate for 3 adults. We were 3 adults and 2 kids. Why should kids count while usually my kids will use the existing bed. Other accommodations we went won’t have this kind of issue. They will just gave us room that we have booked. Before I made booking, I already studied about the room. The size, the facilities (can add-on extra bed), etc. Hence, the booking. You may refer the photos attached for the view from the room we got.
Cleanliness
They were bad in cleaning hygiene. On day 2, we were in the room when the housekeeper came to clean our room. Surprisingly, they use the same mop to clean the toilet & room area. Aren’t they suppose to use different tools to clean between toilet & bed room? Even the toilet was having bad smell. We thought it was my baby poop but it wasn’t because my baby didn’t poop yet that time. Also, the water spray already not working as it supposed to. The water came put from the hose head very little. How to wash? From here I know that they didn’t wash the toilet. I hope that they will take this review seriously. And they should provide slippers in the room too. Toilet and room area wasn’t supposed to use same slippers.
Buggy service
They have a lot of bellboy but buggy is limited. The accommodation is on a hill. So if you want to go to your room, ride buggy is a must especially when you are with kids. Few times, I have to walk up hills while hold my baby. It was very tiring.
Pool
Yes, the pool is very beautiful with the view. However, mold is everywhere. Even the water ain’t clear. Very slippery especially for the kids. I think they didn’t use chlorine.
I would recommend this place if you are newlyweds. But if you are looking for a clean place, you may want to...
