My friend and I (two females in our early 20’s) had an incredible stay at this Mega View Homestay, and I can't recommend it enough. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted by the owner, Diego, who was not only charming and funny but also extremely helpful. He went above and beyond to accommodate us, even when we had to change our schedule last minute. Despite the change being entirely our fault, Diego was understanding and didn’t charge us for our mistake which was overbooking our stay because of transportation errors. He even helped us book a bus back, which I’m currently on as I write this. The bus fare was much more affordable than the advertised price online, making it a great deal, especially as you can have access to a VIP bus —I highly recommend purchasing through the hostel for just 310K.
As for the rooms, we stayed in an 8-bed dorm, which was spacious and comfortable. Each bed had its own curtain, a feature I always appreciate for added privacy. The bathroom was clean, and the availability of free, spacious lockers was a huge plus. The rooftop view was breathtaking, and the location couldn’t be better—right in the city center. You’re literally surrounded by stores, markets, restaurants, and cafes, all within walking distance.
The hostel also offers a good variety of breakfast options, my friend and I booked with a free breakfast included and were impressed with the extensive and affordable menu if you did not have breakfast included. It was great to have the choice of a drink and dessert, which added a special touch to our stay—something I haven’t experienced at other hostels.
Booking trips through the hostel was a breeze, thanks to Diego. Since we paid at the homestay, we didn’t have to pay online or upfront, which saved us a lot of time. I highly recommend taking advantage of this service.
Another lovely stand out point of our stay was the social atmosphere. There’s a great space on the bottom floor where people can relax and chat, and even during breakfast in the dining area which had a cozy, cafeteria-like vibe. I met a lot of interesting people this way, which made the experience even more enjoyable.
Some people might mention the steps as a downside, but honestly, I didn’t find them to be a big issue. They add to the charm of the place, given the steep nature of Sa Pa. Though it’s worth noting that if you have mobility issues, the steep stairs could be challenging. If that’s a concern, I’d recommend doing a bit of research before booking.
Overall, this hostel exceeded our expectations in every way. From the fantastic location and cozy rooms to the incredible service and social atmosphere, it was a perfect experience. I would definitely stay here again and can’t wait to bring my friends and...

Rooms are exactly the same as photos on their website & clean. The bed mattresses are really comfy, thinner than normal but feels like memory foam! Likely local product. My dad usually gets backache from hotel beds but did not have the problem here. Shower is not separate from the sink & toilet which means the floor may be wet but not too bad! Water pressure is good & hot water is sufficient. Just wait 10mins after each person showers for the hot water to replenish. There are 4 floors in the homestay with dorms in the basement & no lift, but the staff can help with your luggage.
Homestay restaurant is good & value for money. 60k VND for your choice of meal (pho/pancake/baguette egg breakfast/fried noodles)+ salad/fruits + drink. Breakfast starts at 6.30am!
Service cannot be beaten, fantastic 10/10 - Trang & her husband have been connecting with me via Whatsapp from booking, to reaching out few days before my stay for confirmation, on check-in day itself to confirm on time & throughout our stay for amazing local food recommendations, tours, places of interests & transport! You can trust them. They are honest & sincere people who are rare to find - wanted to book certain transport from them but they told me that travel agency would give better price for this particular route. They are funny & friendly too 😊 they have a cat named chicken lol
Payment via Wise/bank transfer/cash/other third-party app like 9Pay. Not sure if they accept other methods.
Location is amazing, just 1 minute walk (up the stairs - see *Note) to lots of food/massage shops (town area) & less than 10 minute walk to the lake.
*Note: Mega View Homestay is in an alley (totally safe even at night, families stay along the alley & kids even play badminton at night there) with a flight of stairs/ramp 100m, 1 minute walk down from the car drop-off area at Swan Sapa Hotel. The homestay can arrange several staff to help with your...
Read moreThis homestay definitely worth a 10/10 review. Strategically located, 5 mins walk to Sun plaza. Very reasonable price. And super home feeling comfortable room. Also friendly and helpful owner.
The room is very homestay decorated but is actually like a hotel where you have own bathroom and balcony in the room. Definitely try to book the King room with amazing view if possible. The breakfast is good for 60K VND with a main, drink, and fruit or salad. Nice breakfast 😋😋😋.
The friendly owner even helped us to plan where to go in Sapa and tell us what to do in which day when we met physically 🤣🤣👍. And we booked the bus ticket through them as well through WhatsApp which makes it a lot easier.
The bus ticket from Hanoi to Sapa or back cost VND420K one way for single cabin which I strongly recommended if you are taking a overnight bus as you will have more privacy and more comfort. However, you can't sit up straight. Hence, we booked the normal sleeper bus from Sapa to Hanoi costing VND310K one way which is ok as the seat can be tilt up a bit more but less privacy and more passengers.
The trekking tour is a must do in Sapa, the view is really worthy for the 5 hours trek and we took a private tour as we don't have good stamina and would like to stop frequently to take pictures. The trekking tour guide Sue is very nice as well.
The friendly and helpful homestay owner really helps us a lot and everything is so good here in the homestay just that be ready to climb some stairs(around 30 steps) to reach the homestay, which i don't recommend people with bad knees to come.
I will definitely come back again to Sapa and stay in this homestay again .
PS: the best month to visit Sapa is in July and August when all the paddy fields are golden in colour. I went in October and all the paddy fields are being harvested. Will definitely go back one day during August before the...
