My partner and I had been refused entry onto our flight this evening due to being 5 minutes late past the baggage drop and had nowhere to stay for the evening. We are currently at the airport for about 12 hours until the next flight at 6am in the morning. We came into Pickett’s as we needed somewhere to sit and they had some decent looking couches and we needed to relax as we are exhausted. On arrival, a very lovely gentleman took care of us for the next 2-3 hours and was wonderful! He had a laugh with us and really looked after us, telling us to lay back, relax and rest. We purchased several expensive drinks and items of food and the quality of all of this was excellent. Very expensive but that’s expected at the airport. The gentlemen finished his shift around 11PM or so and a new lady in an orange jumper took over. Firstly - the atmosphere immediately changed from a happy, fun and relaxed vibe to flat, draining and downright toxic. This lady we witnessed be extremely rude to several paying customers. A younger staff member was doing his best and she was treating him with complete disrespect. Making him do all the work whilst she sat on her laptop and on her phone majority of the night and continued to disappear. There was a very friendly elderly man who was a paying customer that had briefly nodded off whilst having his food, this woman went Upto his table, smacked the table several times and screamed at him that he is NOT TO SLEEP IN HERE! She has been so rude to nearly every customer. This would have been a 5 star review if it wasn’t for her. The gentleman that served us - you are the life on this restaurant and a very valuable staff member. The lady afterwards needs to go otherwise I’m afraid the negative views will continue to rise. Unfortunately have to take it from a 5 to a 2 due to this awful ladies service. This lady was working on the 5-6th June from 11PM onwards through the early hours of...
Read moreVery poor service. Had to wait 30min for our drinks. When we asked, they asked if we want it in takeaway cups and I said no.. but they just put the drinks in takeaway cups. When he came to serve the drinks, he slammed the cup on my table. I took the takeaway cups back and asked to have them in glasses instead of takeaway cups. Next, our hot drinks came but were given wrong size. We paid for a regular but was given a small. We didn't ask for a receipt as we would not expect an outlet at the airport to make that kinda mistake. When we went to ask if they had charged a regular price but given a small, the reply was " if u didn't ask for a receipt, there is no way we can check" all the drinks taste so bad. The iced latte tasted like water. The chai latte tast like just milk.. no taste of chai at all. We won't...
Read moreOrdered three flat whites, of which two were fine, but the third one was completely off. It looked like someone had simply warmed up milk in the microwave and added a shot of coffee. Upon kindly asking the waiter to remake just the one flat white, she turned around and started arguing, claiming we didn’t know anything about coffee. She rudely said, “Flat whites are meant to be flat. In Melbourne, they’re flat, but in Noosa, NSW, they have froth.”
The irony was that both my sister and I have been baristas in Melbourne for several years, so we knew she was wrong. Later, another colleague brought over new flat whites and sarcastically remarked, “Here are your flat whites—actually, they’re lattes.”
Horrible experience—would not recommend. Even McDonald’s probably has better...
