I was off to a lovely start to my quick getaway until dealing with the unprofessional and disrespectful service from your staff member making coffees this morning. I picked up my coffee and asked if there was a melt on the ticket. This man waved his hands around and stated that food comes over there.

Fine, no worries… except that he then looked at me and pointed upwards saying ‘Can’t you even read the signs? This one says coffee and the other one says food.’ Surprised, I asked if he felt his comment was necessary or respectful and got a reply of ‘well, the signs are right there’ to which I replied that serving food and drink to the same customer from different counters is not commonplace. I went to the other counter and got the sandwich once ready and asked a staff member for my purchase receipt which was not readily available.

It is 5 am and travel during a pandemic is stressful enough without sarcasm and condescending remarks at the coffee desk. Had the line not been heavily cued up I would have asked for a refund. Lost my appetite and sullied my whole happy mood. I’ll get over it, of course, but folks shouldn’t go here expecting positivity and smiles when they get back unnecessary nastiness. I did stop by and ask this guy if he felt good about his comments to me this morning, to which he replied that he was so, so sorry and had no idea what I was upset about. Axil Coffee Roasters are new to the International Terminal and wow, the coffee was pretty good. They have coffee beans for sale as well as their own reusable coffee cups which I’d highly recommend you take advantage of. For breakfast, I had a croissant that was pretty fresh considering it was a very early start. Never underestimate the delights of a fresh croissant on an early morning! They also had other items such as cakes, drinks, fruit salad, sandwiches that can be toasted if you wish. Despite the airport being busy, the staff were helpful and took their time to make sure they god their orders correct adding a nice smile and greeting to go with it. Had a morning business flight on 10/4 and was eagerly awaiting a coffee and breakfast I was served by a wonderful lady whose customer service and interaction was astounding. She explained what I had asked( about the sandwiches) and was so friendly, and gracious with that old school conversation I was actually left speechless . Considering the time in the morning, you will not get that type of service anywhere I noticed whilst waiting she was the same with every customer .
