Disgraceful. The prices are outrageous. Look, I can appreciate that they are raising money to help the less fortunate, however op shops seem to forget that it was often the less fortunate who would shop at their stores because it was, again, 'at the time', the only place they could afford. Now op shops are just a money grab. I have seen items that are brand new in kmart, big w, etc, be cheaper then what is offered at opshops. My advice- remember who you were. Remember that whilst there are 'resellers' out there looking to turn a profit, the majority of your customers are just every day people who are not as fortunate as most & relied on the cheaper/reasonable pricing of clothing, homewares, etc just to get by. I know many people, myself included who feel pushed out of the op shops, forgotten & judged when we complain about the exorbitant prices. It borders on extortion.. Just because an item is listed for $200 on ebay, doesn't mean it will sell for that price, nor does it mean that it is appropriate or moral to charge the same, when those you are serving, are the local community....

I like going to opportunity shops to buy cheap CDs. They are usually one or two dollars – which I think is reasonable. Most CDs here were three or four dollars. One LP was even eight dollars. And – although I understand they want to prevent theft – each case was taped shut. I prefer to check the quality of each CD before I purchase it, so there was no way I was going to spend four dollars on an album that may or may not be playable. I probably would have walked away with around 15 CDs today, but due to these reasons, I came away with only one.
If you like looking for technology, much of it is stored behind an unmanned counter, which makes it inaccessible. I imagine this is another anti-theft tactic, but it makes browsing these products incredibly frustrating (especially since they are all overpriced anyway).
I'm sure their management believes that the way they are operating will increase their profits, but I'm sure it must actually be...
Read moreYesterday I witnessed something quite dishonest and vile from staff in this store. A woman was trying a dress on & she stepped out of the change room. The vinnies lady shop assistant, the middle aged one, came to the customer fixing up her dress. When the customer kept trying to turn around to look in the mirror, the vinnies lady kept turning her back to face the front of the mirror. The dress was full of moth holes in the back & that's why the vinnies lady kept the customer facing forward, always telling her it looked beautiful. I wish I stepped in and said something. This was the most vile, dishonest, disgraceful act from vinnies staff that I've ever seen. The Customer was being so kind. The Customer told you she was on a pension as well. And then you blatantly robbed this customer by not showing her all the holes in the back of the dress which she could not see. You...
