I have been eating here since a few weeks after they opened over five years ago. It should be noted that I became friends with the owners and I've been working part time with them now for just under two years. I love the food and I love the people. That's why, even on days off, I'll go and grab a burrito to see the people and eat the food!
I've gone through phases of eating each menu item and I love them all. On an average day I'm going to get either the three soft tacos or the burrito. If it's really cold and I want to relax I might get a tortilla soup. If it's cold and I just want some tasty rich comfort food, I might get a quesadilla. If I'm with friends and we're splitting we'll get nachos. If I'm trying to eat healthier but want something really filling I'll get a big salad with pork or chicken (has guac and tortilla chips). If I'm feeling adventurous and really hungry, I'll get the tostadas.
Even before I worked here, I ate here all the time and I still love eating some of the same foods as well as dishes that have changed slightly. I always recommend checking...
Read moreI used to love this place. Before they moved to the other side of the market square, I was a very regular customer sometimes coming several times a week. It was hands-down my favorite spot in the neighborhood.
Unfortunately, since the move, the quality has steadily gone downhill. I first noticed something was off when the guacamole in the burrito bowls started getting watery, clearly diluted. But today was the last straw, I ordered a chicken burrito bowl, and the guacamole was just… gone. It used to be included by default, but not only was it missing, the person who served me didn’t even ask if I wanted it as a supplement. The result? A dry and disappointing meal.
To make matters worse, they usually provide two small sauces with the bowl, again, not today. No explanation, no offer.
For $20, I honestly feel robbed. I’ve tried to keep coming back, hoping things would improve, but this was my final visit. It’s incredibly disappointing to watch one of your go-to places fall apart like this.
At this point, I’d strongly recommend spending your...
Read moreDropped by this place just because I was craving a taco, but got so much more than I bargained for. A small dining space with a lot of character, in the venerable Byward Market building with lively décor and an open kitchen, the staff was young and energetic. The tacos were cheap for a trio, and when the food arrived the appearance of the meal was beautiful and unpretentious. I had the beef, pork, and chicken, and each was delicious in its own way. Complimentary water in plastic cups is very appreciated on a summer day. They have a salsa/hot sauce bar with a wide variety of flavours and heat, which I enjoyed experimenting with. They also sell them in bottles for takeaway, which I did, but be aware they won't last long in your fridge. I loved the meal and would recommend it to tourists as well as locals who might pass it over due to its...
