After a long journey we arrived in ucluelet and phoned Coast canine kennels ( which is a house in a subdivision 1666 Larch st)..at the agreed upon time only to be delayed another two hours because they were not ready for our dog !! When I was finally given the ā green lightā to bring Ben to them I was curious about the conditions inside where the dogs were kept but was discouraged from entering and the subject was quickly changed .. I also wanted to return and take Ben for a walk on the beaches during our four day stay in Tofino but was also discouraged from doing so citing the possibility of separation anxiety ⦠Iāll cut to the chase .. on the morning of day four I called and texted informing this obviously unregistered ā kennelāthat we were on our way to Pu Ben ..they acknowledged my callsā¦. we arrived as stated in our calls twenty minutes later .. I literally had to bang on the front and side doors for 10 mins before anyone came to the door ⦠Ben was obviously under the influence of some form of sedative / drug His eyes were glazed and he was off balance ⦠and he smelled terrible and I mean terrible!!ā¦I regret paying the $200 for the four day stay as I believe Ben ( 6 yr old chocolate Lab)..was sedated the whole time ā¦.Iām sure youāve gathered by now I definitely do not recommend ucluelet coast canine ā¦....
Ā Ā Ā Read moreJanice seemed like a nice enough lady but she was trying to give us recommendations on our 1.5 yr old dog. One of them being that we give him CBD, which she happens to sell, I said no thanks my dog is healthy, she then told me that she had given him some anyways. We had to start driving home that day and he was not himself. It was nerve wrecking because we had no idea how much she gave him or the quality of the product. We understand the affects of CBD and THC on dogs. One could be good and the other very bad. Many questions ran thru my head about this situation. We were both upset about it as he was lethargic and wouldn't drink water. He is a healthy happy go lucky dog. We have an older dog that we considered CBD for but our young pup does not need it. Especially without consent/permission when we were trusting Janice to dog sit for the day. I would not bring any animal to her. If you bring your animal there you are risking the chance that she gives them a heavy dose of CBD. Maybe she does this to make her job easier? We paid her good money and she broke our trust. If I could give 0...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreUcluelet Coast Canine, owned and operated by Janice Spalding truly provides a unique dog boarding service that is a step above any kennel that you'll find and charges a modest price. I regularly recommend Janice to any friends with dogs visiting Vancouver Island because she really is 1 in a million - and WORKS LIKE A DOG, to ensure all her guests enjoy their stay. I used Janice's services to board our senior dog, who had been rescued from South Korea 6 months prior to our visit to the island. Janice not only took a special interest in our dog's breed and personality but also carefully individually introduced him to the other dogs so he wasn't overwhelmed. This was a great experience for both us- the owners and our dog. Wanggu had tons of fun being around other dogs and actively socializing, which we were able to see as Janice regularly posts pictures and videos on...
