Amy's on Davie — Local services in Vancouver

Having used this store frequently in the past I was recently disgusted by the actions and behaviour of the owner(s). I was about to make a purchase which was clearly displayed however when I picked the item off the shelf it was priced at $5.00 higher. I asked the owner (male) why that was and I recieved an absolutely pathetic excuses ranging from size difference to customer changed all of the prices. It was clearly the same item as it had the same code etc. The long and the short of it was I just left. The female was so rude she never got off the phone and stuck out her tounge at me as I was leaving. This couple obviously have no manners and are out to gouge customers whenever they can. I walked up the street to Super 99 and not only got a superior product for $6.00 less and a very helpful and polite staff member. I ended up buying other things there as well. Amy's you should take some courses in business 101, customer service 101 and manners (which at your age you should have). Let's just say they won't ever see another dime from me....

Beware if you are shipping items here. I used to ship things here but had a situation where the scan was showing the item was there and they told me it was not. They were very quick to blame the delivery company which I contacted on a few occasions. I finally got escalated to management (at fedex i believe) and they basically called the store and asked them to look for the item again. Magically, it showed up! What a miracle. A week after my first visit I finally got my item.

Ironically, the very first time I went in I literally looked at the exact box that they gave me as I was trying to describe the size of my item and pointed at that exact one. They had the item since day one and they were quick to tell me that they didn't have the item and pass the blame on...

I would really like to give this store more stars because it's local, the lady at the front is so helpful, and they do have a ton of stuff packed in there. But it's become WAY overpriced! I mean, it's supposed to be a dollar store, and I get that inflation is ridiculous, but come on. $25 for the cheapest metal saucepan I've ever seen. So cheap I'd be scared to use it on the stovetop. Box of Kleenex - $3.25. Shoppers Drug Mart has the same for $1.25. I ran in one day for an umbrella because I was caught in the rain - $14.95 for a little purse size one with a granny print fabric! And outrageous prices are quite consistent on probably more than half the stock they have. These are not dollar store prices. Any other dollar store has better...
