If I am being quite honest I have debated doing this review since December. I finally decided to do it only because in all fairness I want people to know not only where they can go to get good experiences but also where not to go to avoid bad experiences. I was an foreign student in Canda. Normally every six months I get the Japanese straightening done in Paris, France where my stylist is indeed Japanese. I am of bi-racial background not that that should really mean anything. However back to the situation before going to visit Florida for Christmas vacation I decided it was time to I wanted to get my hair done. Booked an appointment discused the length of my hair, the texture of my hair and what I wanted to have done to it. Two weeks later I showed up for appointment. The stylist starts washing my hair then says to me he can do the japanese treatment on my hair. I inquire as to why because I have been literally getting it done twice a year in France or the last 5 years. He informs me that is isnt for my hair... Obviously no one told this to my stylist in Paris. He then emphasizes he cant do it and sets me off into the Devember cold... Wet hair and the day before my trip. By the time I arrived home I already was beginning to feel sick and had a throbing headache. I spent my Christmas vacation in Florida sick and all because of reasons im not even sure of. The least he could have done was dry my hair to prevent me from falling ill. Needless to say it was a terrible experience and the worst customer service I have experienced in my life. However my Japanesed stylist in France did my hair no problem and couldnt explain to me why according to the stylist in Canada the treatment wasnt possible...
Read moreWhat you get from a hair salon has a lot to do with how you interact with your stylist and what you realistically expect from a hair change. Face it, it is not going to make you from a 5 attractiveness to 10. I think some customers may or may not understand that some hairstyles are just not genetically possible.
I have always found Misako's to be very professional. Their staff, especially the managers are tip top. Often I request for a type of hair style, but the result would be remarkably different. It is their way of subtly telling me that "this" may be better. Sometimes I insist. But often I defer to their judgment and professionalism. They do know better.
I have not had a single bad exaggerated experience (as the reviews below) in all my 15 years going there. Cheers. And yes they do know Asian hair.
(I would have given them a five star rating if not for the...
Read moreI really enjoy the shampooing and the little massage they give after every cut! i think each stylist is slightly different and you need to find the one who matches you. I personally prefer Ryuku's style. She takes her time to carefully cut my hair and I enjoy conversing with her. it was a relaxing experience. Kazu is the manager i believe. He is very efficient and fast compared to the others, so if you're in a rush, choose Kazu. He's a very nice fellow, but honestly i prefer Ryuku slower pace and her method of styling my hair. $39 plus i usually give 10-20% tips. I think it's a good place to go to once in a while for me, but a bit pricey for me ...but i think Ryuku's service is worth it. If /when i go back, i'll...
