Leila + Lace Bridal - Vancouver Wedding Dresses — Local services in Vancouver

There are two parts to this review: my experience before trying on dresses and during the dress fitting.

First, I want to acknowledge that I overlooked confirming my appointment prior to arriving, and I take full responsibility for this mistake. I was on vacation in Tofino the week before the fitting. Although I received a reminder text and email, I didn't fully read them or realize I needed to respond to confirm. I also received a call but no voicemail—likely an attempt to contact me. At that time, I was in vacation mode with family I hadn't seen in a year, and the service was poor.

P1 - I arrived 15 minutes early for my appointment and was greeted quite abruptly by a woman at the door who claimed she had called me "200 times" and tried to confirm my appointment, telling me I wouldn’t be able to enter the store that day. She said, "Leila had left for the day and there's nothing she could do." I apologized and started to walk away, but she offered, "I can try calling Leila to see if anything can be arranged." I felt disappointed, but my friends were hopeful. I did not receive any follow-up call afterward to confirm or deny my appointment.

There was another woman in the store, and I didn’t understand why they couldn’t show me dresses if the employees were present, especially since I arrived early for my scheduled appointment. I felt bad, especially since my friends had taken the time to drive down. A few days later, I discovered that the woman in the store was actually Leila herself! She was present during my appointment time, yet I was turned away and told she was not there—that was a lie.

P2 - The next day, I called to request another appointment for myself and one other friend. I was greeted by the same two women, who introduced themselves as Shazi and Leila—yes, the same Leila from the day I was turned away. At that moment, I realized I had been misled. I chose not to address this further out of courtesy, since I had already made the trip again, and I wanted to focus on trying on dresses.

We both apologized for the previous incident and moved on to trying on a beautiful selection of dresses. I showed Shazi a photo of myself from a previous store, where I tried on dresses to help narrow down the sleeve style that would conceal my large lats (I am a fitness instructor with a very muscular upper body). After seeing the photo, Shazi responded, "Girl, just workout! This is your wedding day, you should work hard for it. Look at me—I go to the gym," and then proceeded to flex her biceps. Her words hit me hard, and I was left speechless, wondering how she could say that. I told her I work out regularly, and we quickly moved on, as I still wanted to try on dresses. I am still shocked that she said that.

Lastly, photography is not allowed in their store, which makes it difficult to remember details about the dresses I liked most. I looked up the same dress online and contacted a store in Calgary (where I’m from), which quoted me $1,700 less and offered a free veil. Another Calgary store quoted $1,600 less, but without a veil. I had the most wonderful experience at Leila + Lace Bridal today! Upon arrival, I was greeted by two warm and friendly women, Leila and Shazi, who prepared a delicious charcuterie board with wine for me. I came to this appointment with several gowns I had in mind to try on and they gathered all of them. I was pleased as they had a wide range of beautiful dresses in their collection. To my delight, each gown was available to try in my size (which wasn’t the case at other stores I went to) and they were incredibly patient with me as I wore each gown and really got a good feel for them. They made me feel very comfortable and taken care of, and importantly, not rushed! Shazi even took the time to take photos and videos of me in my favourite dress and allowed me to spend as much time as I wanted in it. I had the whole boutique to myself and they gave me an extremely personalized experience. They are a relatively new boutique and I would highly recommend brides to be to give Leila + Lace...

One thing that really stood out to me was their veil collection 🤍 truly one of a kind💌 They have everything from timeless vintage inspired pieces to modern, minimalist styles🌟 The materials are gorgeous soft tulles, delicate lace✨ You can really tell they put a lot of care into curating their pieces🤍🥂
