Count the clues to solve the mystery🥸🧐🤨🤔
So apparently, this restaurant is actually on the top of a hotel called "Salvio." It was a little hard to find.
This place has a doorman/host at the street level, and tries to give the "exclusivity/pompous" feel for their customers. This is clue #1.
We were eventually granted permission to take the elevator up to the 11th floor, even though there was no one in line, and it was 8pm on a Thursday. Clue #2.
As we excited the elevator, a bright space filled with tables and no one sitting at them was immediately on our right, which surprised me because supposedly getting a table was hard. We tried to make reservations on their website and then through their whatsapp, which we were told they were fully booked, but that we could show up anyway, so we did.
The restaurant area of the "Vista Corona," was well lit and very welcoming/ elegant. We got a table immediately, but the table was missing a foot, so it rocked severely when leaned on. We eventually got a table with a view. The place was full, but not overcrowded, and a little too loud for decent conversation. Clue #3.
They put a 1960s Volkswagen in the restaurant and turned it into the DJ booth. There was no DJ that day, but the soundtrack was good. Clue #4.
Our server was very good. We ordered the guacamole mocajete (spelling) bowl with Mexican chorizo. We ordered a couple of cocktails, a steak dish, and the chicken fajitas. We asked for the steak to be cooked well. Unfortunately, it didn't come that way. The side dish of sweet potatoes pureed were fantastic! So was the guacamole, but the chips could be presented better and could be served warm. The chicken fajitas didn't have enough veggies, and they were just average, as was the steak dish.
Both tables we sat at were very sticky, even after we had asked them to wipe it down. Clue #5.
As our evening progressed and our interactions with our server progressed, he eventually gave me "fist bump," with his hand 👊. Clue #6.
Because we had asked for the steak dish to be cooked well, and sent it back, they gave us for free the second potatoes pureed dish we ordered (yes, we ordered a second dish, it's that good!). We were also celebrating a birthday and they sang for us, which was nice because we didn't ask for it.
End of the mystery. If you haven't figured out what type of place this is, it's a nightclub and a restaurant. Personally, I'm old and this isn't for me, so I won't be going back on a Friday or Saturday. I'm sure it's very full with people. The sticky tables, fist bumping server, pretentious and arrogant attitude of the door staff, DJ booth in a car, and other very loud customers = nightclub ambiance on the weekends. I'll go back for the food and the views. Also, even though the server shouldn't fist bump, his service was excellent and very...
Read moreThis place has a great and chill atmosphere, even on a Tuesday night. The view is amazing, the food was good with generous portions, and the drinks were well-made and beautifully presented. The music added to the vibe, making for an enjoyable experience—until the end.
Unfortunately, our visit took a turn for the worse when the waiter repeatedly pressured us to leave a Google review, even instructing us on what to write and how many stars to give. It became uncomfortable as he hovered over us, insisting to the point were he was nearly touching the screens of our phones, writing and rating on our behalves himself.
After paying and heading to the elevator, the same waiter ran after us, insisting that we hadn’t covered the full bill. Despite double-checking the amount multiple times, he kept pressing and we gave in. Later, we realized that the supposed “missing” amount was actually the tip we had chosen not to leave—something entirely optional here. The way it was handled gave the impression that we had underpaid for food or drinks, which wasn’t the case.
While the prices are reasonable and the setting is great, the pushy and unprofessional treatment at the end left a...
Read moreThis is a must-go restaurant/rooftop if you are visiting Bogota. I recommend that you organize your day in order to see the sunset here. Not only do you get one of the greatest views of the city, but you also get a free corona beer so it’s definitely a win-win. The food is ‘ok’ if you like Mexican food but the drinks and cocktails are really good. The music is totally different before and after the sunset. Before you get some nice music for eating and talking, and after the ambient changes and you get lively music at a higher volume so be prepared to be in the mood for drinks and a good time after eating. The decorations are really cool and if you get cold, they give you blankets so that you are always comfortable. I was really impressed by this rooftop, the service is really good and the experience is one that...
