*Edited to add, we went back to La Fortuna 3 years later and booked Dani again - he’s still the best at finding wildlife, and this time we used his company’s van transport service, which was perfect! Competitive prices, nice vans, and great drivers. Dani is just as good as ever at spotting wildlife no one else sees, and we were thrilled to do more tours with him. He also designed some really cool shirts with nature photos he took himself, which I was thrilled to buy (the frog and snake ones were my favorite, with incredible pictures used, and the long-sleeves are perfect for hiking since they’re breathable and keep mosquitos off!) See ya next time Dani!
Dani is awesome!! His prices are cheaper than all the other tour operators we saw in town, and he literally spotted SO much wildlife we never would’ve seen despite our best efforts searching. He speaks fluent English, takes amazing photos of wildlife with your phone, is extremely knowledgeable, and made us feel safe the entire time. He even texted us on WhatsApp before we did our first tour with him, just to let us know the volcano was briefly cleared of clouds and to quickly snap a pic (which we did). He was very flexible with changing plans when it rained, and we saw all the things we wanted to see. I hadn’t planned to use a guide but changed my mind and messaged him last minute (he’s booking up fast now with the high season, so reserve him...
Read moreI fell into being the travel agent for our large extended family trip to Costa Rica over Thanksgiving week. Daniel with LaFortuna Explorers was my hero. He helped me plan an amazing weeklong vacation over for our group of people ranging in age from 12-77yo with varying interests and activity levels. Dani was professional, prompt, knowledgeable, and universally loved by everyone in our group. He helped arrange multiple tours including transport to and from our Airbnb and a nearby resort (there were a LOT of us!), took our adventurous teens and young adults to the local rope swing, gave us great local tips, fed us home-cooked meals, and showed us so many cool animals. His passion for the Tico wildlife and spotting all the critters was infectious. Who knew walking through the jungle at night looking for frogs could be so cool? We did a night walk with Dani, enjoyed a safari float on the Peñas Blancas, went exploring on ATVs, and went rappelling down waterfalls. Dani also took 20 of us to Mistico and even arranged a second guide, Bryan, to join us. I selfishly stuck with Dani but the group led by Bryan LOVED him too. When we came home, we all wanted to send pics of our local wildlife back to Dani in Costa Rica! And we all wore our LaFortuna shirts at our family...
Read moreOur tour with Daniel from La Fortuna Explorers was one of the highlights of our trip to La Fortuna, Costa Rica. We did several tours with Daniels, all in the same day: Mistico Bridges, Sloth Tour, Monkey Tour and the Night Walk. For the Mistico Bridges, he picked us up from our hotel at 7:30AM so that we can get to the bridges early and avoid the crowds. He pointed out so many animals, spider holes, unique trees & plants etc. So many times other guides were walking right past things that he was easily spotting in the jungle. We felt very lucky to have him as our tour guide. Then we moved onto the Sloth tour followed by the monkey tour. Both were nature trails where you can see the animals in their natural habitats. Not caged in any way. The final stop was the night walk, which started at 6PM. The jungle comes alive at night with animals that were hiding during the day. We saw so many varieties of frogs, snakes and spiders, etc. If you are looking for a tour guide in La Fortuna, I would highly recommend that you reach...
