Itâs so unfortunate that a place with amazing food has such subpar service. The owner should 100% consider retraining or hiring new management. While reading the other positive reviews please take them with a grain of salt because their great food does not match their lack of service.
My boyfriend and I ordered the gnocchi and carbonara to-go, we were told that it would be a fifteen to twenty minute wait. After walking around the festive town of La Fortuna for 20 minutes we came back and our food was still not ready. However another to-go order that came in after us was ready to be given out, so we waited patiently for another 15 minutes. After waiting 40 minutes for our to-go meal the manager decided to grace us with his presence. When we questioned the service that was being delivered to us he said âthis is not a McDonalds, you donât like it you can leave.â This is not how a resturant should operate their business. When you are in the customer service industry itâs important to remember that the customer comes first, and as a business you need to make sure the customers needs are satisfied. After that hostile interaction with the manager we began to talk with other patrons in the establishment and found out that they messed up another partyâs order and didnât even deliver 2/6 dishes they ordered. Italianissimo you need to do better with...
Read moreThere are surprisingly TONS of Pizzerias & Italian restaurants all over Costa Rica, but Italianissimo may be the only one owned, run & operated by an actual Italian! The boss is from Verona. I am Italian and always love to try gnocchi (my favorite) so the first night we ate dinner there, I ordered the gnocchi & my husband ordered the fettuccine Alfredo. We each got the insalata mista as well. Delicious - all of it. It was so good, we went back for dinner another night we stayed in La Fortuna. I wanted the gnocchi again but they were all out so I got the spicy penne dish instead which was also wonderful and my husband got the Gorgonzola ravioli - we each got the salads again too. Our server, Britany, is the sweetest and was absolutely wonderful, and the owner himself was there both nights we were there too. If you want great, AUTHENTIC Italian food in La Fortuna with excellent gnocchi, pizza, pasta and salads (best green salad I had in our 2 weeks in Costa Rica), definitely go to Italianissimo! (Pictured with the owner and our server Britany after...
Read moreThis was the worst TOURIST TRAP I have been to since arriving in Costa Rica. Iâve spent many years working in the restaurant industry and this place fails on almost every level. Slow and inattentive service, way over priced, tiny portions, arrogant and uncaring owner, and terrible atmosphere. When I tried to mention my feedback to the owner he told me I was wrong and that because I am from North America I donât understand Italian cuisine and that I should be happy with the child sized portions! He wouldnât listen to a word I was saying and kept talking over me as if my opinion didnât matter, he then tried to forcefully hug me as if that would make everything better; I had to literally push him off of me, and heâs lucky I didnât knock him out with the amount of disrespect he was showing. Avoid this place at all costs! If you know anything about the restaurant industry you will NOT have a good experience! I wish I could give it...
