Restaurante El Mariachi — Restaurant in La Fortuna

We came to El Mariachi to grab a drink while waiting for a table at a nearby restaurant. Let me tell you, this place has some incredible drinks and margaritas!

But it doesn’t stop there. For context, my girlfriend and I live in LA and have family in Mexicali, Tijuana, CDMX, and Juarez. We’ve had thousands of tacos all across MX - who knew some of the best were going to come from a small restaurant in La Fortuna?

We ordered the al pastor and quesabirria tacos. As soon as we took the first bite, we knew this place was for real! You can tell the food was made with meticulous attention to detail, and the salsas balanced out the layered flavors of the carnes. Our one feedback was they could’ve been a lot spicier, which we laughed off with the owner.

This was the best restaurant of our CR road trip BY FAR. We ended up coming back for lunch, to-go drinks, and more salsa 3 times in 24 hrs…

Considering they’ve only been open for a year, they definitely are on track to be a top go-to stop in the area, as they are always looking to improve.

The meal was completely defined by how it started!! The sweet and spicy onion habanero salsa with tortilla chips was the best thing I've tasted in the recent past. And then the chicken tacos which me and surprisingly my son enjoyed thoroughly. He enjoyed them so much that I had to finish his usual chicken strips meal. My wife really enjoyed the aguachile with shrimp and fish. Overall, an amazing meal that everyone enjoyed. Much better than some of the meals we've had at the resorts.

The restaurant is family owned and they were extremely hospitable and gracious. Overall, delicious food and great ambiance. I would definitely recommend this...

Solid tacos (fish tacos) and chicken nachos were very tasty with quality ingredients real guacamole and great tasting cheese and chips. Owners are so generous and nice they gave us a the real hot sauce from their stash. It was legit heat with so much flavor. True passion for their business. Owner is steadily growing and it shows that it’s for the better of the city. Good quality Mexican food. This owner brought in Mexican cooks to help start the business and learn the food recipes and has kept up with the legitimacy by providing quality Mexican quise.
