Je suis anglophone (grandi en Irlande, habitant depuis longtemps aux ÉU), mais j'essaie d'améliorer mon français depuis un an. J'ai passé quelques jours à Paris en juillet 2023. Mon niveau (B2/C1) est frustrant - je comprends beaucoup, mais j'ai de la misère de m'exprimer aussi couramment que le voudrais. J'ai lu des (petits) romans en français mais ça dure longtemps et que c'est dur! Alors, je me suis décidé d'acheter des BD, en passant ce magasin - je n'en lis pas souvent, mais c'est plus facile, et c'est quelque chose de different. Le jeune homme m'a beaucoup aidé de choisir quelques titres interessants, que j'aurais jamais trouvé seul. Il m'a écouté patientement décrire mes goûts assez vagues ("Typiquement français, plutôt humoristiques que science fiction, pas trop lourds (à cause de mon vol le lendemain)"), et a très vite recommandé des plusieurs bandes qui ont convenu. Merci mon gars!

I visited in July 2023. Been working on my French for a while, have read a few novels, but that's a lot of work, and I was looking for something both easier and a little different. I don't read a ton of comics, but I've enjoyed some in the past, so I thought why not. The young man at the register greeted me politely, asked if he could help me out. And I thought "Yeah, I have no idea what I'm looking for really, but let's see what we come up with." So he asked me what I liked, and really quickly came up with some recommendations that I never would have found on my own. He listened to my initial vague descriptions, quickly made recommendations, then asked for feedback to get closer. Really great bookstore, wish I could go back again soon, but it's going to be a while unfortunately!
