Lupicia — Restaurant in Paris

The first time I went to a Lupicia, I was traveling through Japan. Looking for tea to bring back home, I stopped at a small boutique in Tokyo, where I not only had my first tea tasting, but also left with three absolutely divine oolong teas (peach, grapes and mango). Coming back to France, I tried to find a similar store, or somewhere they would sell the same brand. Sadly, at that point in time, they didn't, and I resigned myself to the memory of the tea. Fast forward a few years, and here it is, in Paris, right in front of me. The store is beautiful, well designed with knowledgeable and kind staff as well as a wide palette of teas, black to white... For any tea lover, this is a great break from the traditional Palais des Thés...

J'ai été ravie dimanche 24 mars de passer de passer par hasard devant chez vous avec une amie. Je connaissais déjà quelques-uns de vos thés que j'appréciais, tout particulièrement celui à la châtaigne. Nous avons décidé de prendre un thé et pâtisserie. L'accueil était irréprochable, monsieur et dame charmants. J'avais prévu d'inviter mon amie ; à peine attablées, on nous a demandé comment nous comptions payer :ensemble, séparément, espèces, CB, j'ai trouvé la questions incongrue alors que nous venions de nous poser et ai répondu CB car je voulais inviter mon amie. Je suis allée me laver les mains après avoir commandé. Nous avons dégusté et fort apprécié nos thés (enfin mon thé n'était pas très chaud et pourtant devait être fait avec eau bouillante) et petits gâteaux, au matcha pour mon amie et yuzu pour moi, absolument délicieux. Mon amie n'était pas contente de ne pas pouvoir avoir d'eau chaude à ajouter dans sa théière car il n'y avait ni feuilles ni sachet, perso je trouve que c'est mieux ainsi afin que l'infusion soit à point. A ce moment-là mon amie m'a dit que votre boutique l'avait définitivement perdue comme cliente car cela faisait deux points en votre défaveur et j'ai alors appris que vous aviez présenté la note, avant que nous consommions, alors que je m'étais absentée, et qu'elle l'avait réglée ! Nous avons été toutes deux très choquées de cette façon de faire, d'autant que nous n'étions pas en terrasse mais tout au fond de la salle et ne risquions vraiment pas de partir sans payer. Du coup, je l'avoue, j'ai acheté moins de thés que je n'en avais l'intention, et ai tout de même insisté pour en prendre à mon amie qui ne voulait rien de chez vous. Nous avons réussi à le dire en partant, nous persistons et trouvons très désagréable dans ce genre d'endroit d'avoir la note avant même d'être servies (j'étais présente à la table quand nous avons été servies) et mon amie avait...

I used to go here when I was in Paris. They had a lovely selection of tea and sweets. During Corona Lock-Down I wanted to treat myself to some of their teas and sweets to rekindle my memories of Paris. After weeks of waiting, and complaining I must say that this shop seems to have become a fraud. I don't know why but my emails get either ignored or very vague responses. My parcel hasn't arrived for weeks now and I neither have gotten my money back nor was I offered a replacement. I am still waiting for my money back and can only warn...
