I spent 9 days at Hotel Academie Saint-Germain and enjoyed every moment. The location is perfect: although in walking distance of all of the tourist sites, it is located in a more quiet area with a neighborhood feel. Very safe and walkable. Moreover, there was no street noise for the most part after midnight, and even before, it is minimal. The room was very nice: the bed was extremely comfortable, the bathroom was of a large size and the closet space was more than most European hotels. Housekeeping, however, is a bit unorganized. For two days I had no soap, which was not an issue as I used the shampoo, however then soap appeared on my third day there. They took my bath mats and did not return them for a few days, which was not a problem as I used a face towel as a replacement. And one morning one of the staff knocked on my door around 10:30 AM even though I had my "Do not disturb" sign on the knob. None of these caused any problems or discomfort during my stay, but it was noted. Breakfast was very nice, plentiful and delicious (particularly the crepes!), but there were times when just a croissant from the Boulangerie a few doors down was all that I needed (the two women who served breakfast were sweet, helpful and lovely) Yet those who work at the front desk are the best of the best!! Peter, Michel, the lovely two young women for whom I failed to learn their names and particularly Patricia were what made my trip over the top wonderful! They recommended some great restaurants (thank you Michel for the 114 Faubourg unforgettable experience), helped me with my transportation needs, and provided me with directions... even answering my bizarre questions: E.G. on morning I was a bit lazy, and asked Patricia what I should do that day. She understood my mood, and recommended that I visit the Passages on the other side of the river. What a fantastically fun time, and I would never have done so without her advice. From day one of my arrival she was available for all of my inquiries, needs and even my goofy conversations. Patricia is a true gem! I hope to travel back to Paris next year, and I will most certainly stay at Hotel Academie Saint Germain again.... and I have already recommended it to some friends who are making plans to travel there in a few months. Merci and see you soon to all who are at Hotel Academie...
Read moreWe had an excellent 6 day stay at this boutique hotel and would definitely return the next time we’re in Paris. We particularly loved the neighborhood - very picturesque and conveniently located (trains, museums, restaurants, etc).
The small hotel has 1 small elevator but we never waited long. The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful.
The breakfast buffet was very nicely done: soft scrambled eggs, potatoes, bacon, excellent baguette and cheese, sliced meats, some pastries, fruit and yogurt, crepe and jam, and espresso machine for latte etc. Fresh pressed orange and grapefruit juice! And my husband especially appreciated the days they had donuts lol. The food was all just good (unlike the breakfast at our hotel in London, which was pitiful in comparison). Ours was included in our room, but otherwise I think it’s 19€ which kinda seems like a lot, but it was very good so idk. The woman who attended the breakfast each day was especially friendly and helpful.
This is an old hotel so the decor is a mix of « antique » and « outdated ». But it’s very clean.
The rooms are small but that’s Paris. The bathroom had a nice big counter and deep jacuzzi tub. Good water pressure. Nice tall windows with good light and blackout curtains. No « great views » other than across the street. Temperature control in the room (it’s December so I can’t comment on ac). Quiet at night even though we were on the street side. The bed was very comfortable. We had a « king » size which is 2 single beds pushed together and wrapped into 1 sheet lol. We didn’t notice until the 3rd night that it was 2 mattresses so I guess that’s good. It does mean that it’s a short bed (wide but short) but in general big beds are hard to find in Paris.
The main downside for me is that the WiFi was quite poor in the rooms. Even scrolling on my phone I frequently lost signal. It’s strong in the lobby so I could sit there and download things but it was a little touch and go in the rooms (likely due to the...
Read moreWe mostly enjoyed our stay here. We went for 7 nights in July 2025. We used the hotel’s offer of private transportation from CDG. It was reasonably priced and reliable at £70-£75.
The A/C on the 5th floor worked great. I enjoyed the bathroom, mostly. Great shower and tub. Kept hitting my head on the slanted wall/ceiling. The room was very, very small. We were told we were upgraded to a deluxe, which was supposed to have more space, but it was still tiny. We did manage to have enough room to sleep and get dressed, but not much else. We hadn’t planned to do much else in the room anyways. The giant tv had a few English channels and Netflix.
We were close to the Metro. Close to a lot of the main tourist attractions. But far enough away from the main streets, it was decently quiet. You will hear sirens in your room and motorcycles zooming by, but in the city, that’s expected.
They had breakfast but it wasn’t very great for the price, imo. You can do a lot better for £22 nearby.
My major complaint is that they made a photocopy of my credit card at check-in. I wanted to fight it, but after a 9 hour flight I just let them do it reluctantly. Copying a card is completely unnecessary and against the PCI DSS standards as a card processor. My information was exposed. And, sure enough, 7 days after departure, my card number was used online nearby for a dinner pickup. I never used that card in Paris anywhere else. I used tap pay exclusively. I kept my belongings in the safe while I was there.
This is disappointing to what was a 4 star experience. I won’t stay again. I think for the price point, I could have had a better stay...
