my colleague is currently doing a study into museum curation and exhibition texts that reinforce/promote/underplay imperialist views, guess what institute she picked as her case study? Humbolt Forum! After my visit today, it is a completely great choice for her seeing Humbolt Forum provided soooooooo many rich texts when it comes to showcasing modern colonial imperialist agenda❤️
BTW, the staff allows many white visitors before us with pufferjackets to enter, and asks us to take off our form-fitting jacket, told us "it will be hot for you" when he has a jacket on as well😂 and jokingly bowed to us when we relented and stored our jackets cuz he wont let us enter, saw a dozen white visitors entered with small bags as well, and assumed we dont speak German cuz we're asians
this is the result when an imperialist institute functions, they attract and reinforce the colonial standard. i will spare my criticism of the inaccurate exhibition texts when it comes to the Asian exhibition, cuz i know Humbolt Forum doesnt care at all
to keep it short: Germans didnt get their stuff through "expedition," u guys robbed and stoled and destroyed and implied Chinese to be the bad guy for demanding their stuff back,...

The views are nice. But overall the two interactions left very unpleasant taste of...
Read moreI really enjoyed this exhibition. The exhibits are linked by an overarching theme, but there's no strong thematic or narrative red thread. For someone with a goldfish's attention span like me, this was perfect. I found myself meandering through the exhibition, driven by constantly-relit curiosity at the artefacts.
I'm reading here that the fish wall is ok to photograph! I wish they'd explicitly said...
