My wife and I traveled to Germany in June 2019. Here I am, two months later, still thinking -- and telling others -- about this INCREDIBLE cheese shop. We were treated to a delicious and memorable experience by one of the owners. First, he invited us to pick out a bottle of wine, so we tried sips from several different bottles of Riesling and settled on a fantastic one (I wish I could remember which one). He asked us how hungry we were, we responded, "Very!" and mentioned our love for all cheeses and dried meats. So he poured us a couple glasses, invited us to take a seat at one of the tables out front while he prepared a board. Several minutes later he delivered one of the best cheese/meat boards we've ever had. He explained each item and recommended a specific order to maximize the flavor experience. In the meantime, attendees starting showing up for one of his frequent cheese classes in the shop, but he still payed attention to us and filled more wine as needed. Paid my first visit to this shop a while back and we were completely ignored. Today we decided to give it another try, walked into the shop while the owner was still in the back. Meanwhile a second customer (older man) also came in and when the owner came back he fully ignored us and directly served the older man. We didn't even get a "hello" or "whom can I help". Seems like they have a tendency to help older people first as exactly the same happened last time as well. We were so annoyed that we left and this time I am not planning on coming back. Ist doch alles Käse hier - Wein und Wurst ist aber auch noch vorhanden. :-) Nachdem ich schon so oft an diesem kleinen Laden in der Schillerstraße vorbeigegangen bin, hat mich das Schild „Grilltoast“ dann heute endlich mal dazu bewogen reinzugehen. Und Ja, dass es hier um Käse geht riecht man sobald man durch die Tür kommt. Also meinen Grilltoast mit Käse und Tomate bestellt, mit einer kleinen Salami dazu und einer Limonade (bin kein Genießer von Wein, davon gäbe es hier aber mindestens soviele Sorten wie es Käse gibt). Serviert wird stilecht auf dem Holzbrettchen und man bekommt ein richtiges Glas, also nix mit Plastik wie bei manch anderen Läden, hier herrscht noch Stil und Liebe zum Detail. Überhaupt hat das Interieur so ein bisschen was von einer Berghütte, mir hat nur noch der Heugeruch gefehlt. Die beiden Kerle (rustikal gesprochen, passend zur Berghütte) die hier bedienen sind super nett, freundlich und total authentisch, also ein Laden bei dem wirklich alles für mich stimmt. Der Toast war sehr lecker (etwas zu heiß, aber kommt eben auch frisch aus dem Grill) die Salami lecker und die Limonade mal was ganz Prickelndes (ja ja die Franzosen eben). Zum Abschluss habe ich einen Espresso auf‘s Haus bekommen (nochmals Danke dafür) serviert mit einem Stück Espressokäse aus Wisconsin, Sachen gibt‘s. Es gibt regelmäßig Verkostungen, ja, auch bei Käse soll es sowas geben und einmal im Monat eine Themenwoche (letztes Mal war Südtirol dran). Also wer Käse mag und auch gerne ein Glässchen Wein genießt, oder einfach nur in toller Atmosphäre einen leckeren Grilltoast essen mag, der sollte hier auf jeden Fall...
