Market almost only dedicated to fruits and vegetables (There was two stands for fresh fish, one or two for spices to season your dish, and we only saw one stand where there was « mountain herbal infusion » We only saw very few tourist.
Price may be the same or a little above what you see at supermarket or small shops, but the quality is way above.Next to that, we didnât investigate but I would think that the pieces from there are more « local » and more tasty and healthy
I would suggest to: When you buy, donât hesitate to select your fruits and really check the size of them you want. Check in advance the vegetable and fruits from the season and also from where they come from (For example you may see avocatos more pricy in some stands but itâs because they are from Crete, which is know for their avocatos, âŠ) Do the road and check the fruits with their price and HOW THEY LOOK (some are cheaper but there are a reason) When itâs fruits thatâs itâs easy to taste a bit like Oranges, do not hesitate to ask to see the quality Try to buy multiple from the same vendor so you can ask a small favor (for instance we bought for 20⏠fruits at a stand and we had a 50% discount on another buy of 5âŹ). I doubt that itâs possible to have 20% for instance, but more, one or more additional...

Consider the fact that by law, a public market must be available within walking distance to every citizen in Athens once a week. This law promotes the accessibility to healthy and affordable food for the health and well being of the public. It also supports the livelihood of small farmers and locally produced food.

Stalls overflow with fresh produce, the merchants are friendly without being pushy, and the atmosphere is a vibrant mix of locals doing their weekly shopping and travellers happily tagging along for the experience.
The neighbourhood itself adds to the charm â beautiful streets lined with character, and if you wander into the side alleys youâll stumble upon street art that gives the whole area an extra layer of personality.
This isnât just a market, itâs a little slice of Athenian life. Highly recommended, whether youâre here to buy fruit, people-watch, or simply soak...
