REmatto Artigiano — Local services in Catania

This is a long overdue review but I wanted to leave my thoughts here on the store and Paolo. Back in August I was in Sicily with my family for a holiday and before we flew back, we decided to stop by Paolo’s store to take a look at some leather goods.

This turned out to be one of the best decisions of the entire trip!! All products were extremely high quality and hand-made. All the products were created with care and you can tell Paolo enjoys his craft from his products. Paolo himself is also super friendly and was willing to make any adjustments I asked for.

In the heart of Catania city center, you can find this true gem of hand crafted work. 5 minutes off the crowded Via Etnea, where plenty of cheesy/cheap products are given plenty of visibility, Paolo's lab is a heart warming experience. Paolo and his partner put their passion into it: as it's their thing, they know inside out the value and history of each and every item in the shop. The products (which come at very on market price) would make enough of a good reason to stop by. The customer experience goes beyond. First, I got a kind discount/free item with my purchase. Definitely one of the highlights of my entire stay in Italy! Paolo is a wonderful and charismatic craftsman who is attentive and knowledgeable about his craft. All the leather goods at this store are hand-made, very reasonably priced, and stylish. Paolo even brought out the material he uses for several bags and explained the origin and functionality!

I was especially wowed by his patience and friendliness when walking us through all the different products available; it was so hard to just choose one, but in the end I left with a wonderful tote! Paolo was so sweet to even offer a free engraving on my bag.
